My Great Aunt (94 years old) is currently in hospital following a fall. My mother and I are trying to assist her with making arrangements for her after her discharge. However, we have been told she needs her National Insurance number and we have been able to locate it anywhere. Any advice please?

Thanks very much, will pass on info :-)0

Look on the bank statement for where her pension is credited - might show as narrative or if shes an ISA anywhere the provider would have it0

If your mother helps her aunt with her financial affairs then the easiest way to find out her national insurance number is to check her bank statements. Her pension credit will show the reference dwp followed by her national insurance number.0

Thanks for your advice kimbers84 and Macca83...unfortunately she does not appear to have any bank details that we can find, creating another problem for us...hence my subsequent post !0

Perhaps approach Social Services and see if they can obtain the NI number from DWP and provide it to whoever needs it.0

...........Any letters from DWP / This will also have NI number.0

Have you asked your aunt where she keeps her papers, BS passbook etc (assuming she is able to tell you)?0 -
She must keep her documents somewhere? Older generations are almost religious in saving bank statements, pension letters etc does anyone in the family help with the day to day stuff? Someone who may know where she keeps it?0

Sounds like you should also be investigating getting Lasting Power of Attorney https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/office-of-the-public-guardian/series/lasting-power-of-attorney-forms0
