Get the model number and Google it for replacement remotes.

Get a One For All universal remote from Ebay- much more useful than a copy remote that works only one thing.

Pound shops sell generic r/c's,but i've found in the past that they don't support many Freeview functions.

Any ideas as to the best price for which you can get something fully compatible, please?

As above, a One For All from E-Bay seems a great option both in terms of price and compatibility.

OFA in The Netherlands are very helpful and, if you phone them (0808 100 0306) giving the make and model of the device in question, they will email you with a full list of Key Magic codes.

Those will enable you to program the remote's keys with the various functions you require.
