Why do I have to wait 5 working days for BT it give me my MAC code

After a few phone calls I've decided to leave BT but they say they have to order my MAC code :eek:

Why do they have to order a MAC code which takes 5 working days to come via email?!?!

Other company's can give it to you over the phone within 30 seconds or via email within 24hrs, as did the original company that I moved from. In this day an age I would've thought BT would have the technology to do that instead of saying their policy has now changed and they cant give it out over the phone any more. :mad:

Sorry if it sounds like I'm ranting......

(P.s I've also sent them an email saying I want my MAC code)

They can do it instantly. But they're only obliged to give it to you within 5 working days. In the hope that'll you'll change your mind of course...

They told me they cannot as their policy has changed I'm fuming. How do I contact at BT to get it as I have a feeling they my say they sent the email and I never got it.

I will not be changing my mind and this is the last straw.

Like pushing a pea uphill, there is little to be gained from railing against their blinkered policy, as it won't come any quicker.

Just do as you have done and on here people will see what dipwads they are and decide not to use their services in future - and I'm sure, you won't either!

Thanks I just rang up and quoted what you just said and they have now given it to me.

I just called BT and after a conversation re my BB and phone line asked for my MAC, they gave it without hesitation.


Speaking to Primus they tell me the MAC is not required for a change of BB supplier and that they do not need it and will just swop over, they don't ask for the MAC even for an online application, am told this is a recent change!
