Setting up Virgin Voicemail iPhone 5 with nano SIM
I'm only posting this information in case anyone is having the hassle that I did when trying to get my Virgin voicemail to go live on my iPhone 5 (or iPhone 4).
If you have not done so already dial 222 to set up your voicemail (one's personal greeting message and the PIN lock service etc etc) with Virgin, when you have successfully done this it will send you a text back saying store this number +44004 or +44003 etc followed by you mobile number minus the 1st zero - This number is your personal Virgin voicemail dial-up number.
Now to link the Virgin voicemail to one's iPhone, go to your phone's dialling keypad and type in the series of symbols and numbers that are listed below and then press the 'green' call button on your mobile's dialling keypad. You will know if you have successfully done this as you will see a multiple screen message appear which says something like successful or failed.
Type the following into your iPhone keypad:
**61*+44004(or 003 etc etc)mobile number*5# (remember your mobile number is without first 0). To get the + on your mobile's keypad dial you have to long hold the 0, and don't forget hash # at the end of the sequence then press the 'green' call button on your mobile's keypad.
Use a friends or your home phone to call your Virgin number, let it ring through to your voicemail and leave a test message. To then access your message you can either press and hold the 1 button on your iPhone dialling keypad, or press the Voicemail symbol key (bottom right button on your iPhone dialling keypad.
Finally, if you keep getting an annoying text back from virgin every time you pick up your messages stating that your voicemail is updated you can stop this by storing your Virgin voicemail number (your +44004 or 003 then your mobile number minus the 1st zero) into your contacts (as a contact), calling it say Voicemail Virgin and dial this rather than dialling 1 for voicemail or pressing the voicemail symbol (bottom right on your keypad dialling screen) - I've found by dialling my newly saved Voicemail Virgin contact that this stops me getting the annoying Virgin text notifications. Even better add this Virgin voicemail contact as a Favourite so to have it as a one button press speed dial.
Last but not least, as Virgin will not allow a nano sim to be selected when ordering their VIP SIM only deals online, why not do what I did and order the micro sim option, wait for it to arrive and then call the Virgin customer services team stating that you've been given a new mobile handset that takes a nano sim.... Hey presto no problem they issued me with a nano sim no questions asked!
I hope this info' will help others to avoid the headache(s) I had when setting up one's Virgin service with my iPhone 5!
