Providing Employment Details to Your Bank

Is there any advantage to be had from providing this information? Credit limit increases, opportunities to upgrade accounts, etc?

You don't have to provide all the information but yes the internal credit scoring system that Lloyds uses does take this information into account

Presumably any decent salary put in there would be better than leaving it blank?

If your going to be asking for credit, filling it all in is a good plan. Its always good to notice that you have a stable job with a decent salary. Likewise, the Occupation field can affect your internal scoring.

    Ah, now I get why there's nothing in there. I'm down as a full-time student - I guess I can't say I'm employed or I won't be able to keep the Student account. (I'm a student on full-time placement/internship)
  • With some banks if you are stated as unemployed then you will never be given any credit facilities.
It is important to ask any bank if details about are up to date especially if you want to apply for credit through them.
