Air France charged shuttle between connecting airports

I suppose it's the principle really. I had no Euros to pay and luckily I had a credit card otherwise I'd have been !!!!!!ed and have to have unloaded all my stored luggage from the bus, go back inside the airport, find a Bureay de Change, change one of the 2 currencies I had being Sterling and Reals, then go back and wait again. Now, I've been on a 10 hour + flight, with a baby crying incessently, a selfish !!!! chatting most of the night eventhough people are trying to sleep, I've queued up and gone through 2 sets of security and passport control, had to collect my luggage from Charles D G (which on a connection is usually automatically transfered as it was on the way over, so I think I've got every right to be a mite arsed that I've got to fork out again for something I wasn't informed about on my contractual tiicket which gives me no information about the shuttle nor that it is going to charge me for this added hassle and inconvenience.
Also, it would be interesting to find out how much profit AF is making from this shuttle service for not only shunting weary travellers across the other side of their capital because they can't organise themselves enough to provide the self same return travelling plans as the outgoing one.
But you chose such a convoluted route, most sensible people wouldn't do that when travelling with a baby, it's just stupid.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
When you select the flights it states:
Your trip involves a change of airports. At your arrival, please retrieve your baggage before starting your onward travel. The cost for the transfer is not included in the price of your flight ticket.
The same information is also given on the connections page.
There is nothing unusual about this. As already mentioned, BA do not cover the transfer between LGW and LHR. None of the US airlines cover connections between the New York airports.
I would be interested to know which airlines you have used that do offer free transfers to non status passengers?0 -
A long haul flight with no cash, and a child. A credit card , if not two would be essential..you've got to start being more prepared for the unexpected.0

They didn't have the cash they needed and would have known about if they'd have read their reservations properly.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

Plus, in all the 40 years of long-haul travel I've never come acroos this anomily before.
I don't have 40 years of long haul travel, in fact the total number of hours I've flown is probably a month or two, but then again, I only fly 20-30 times a year, so you can take my comments with a pinch of salt...
1. Did you look at the route before you bought the tickets?
2. Did you have a choice of routes, before you started to restrict it by date, time & price?
3. If the outbound had been from LHR and the return into LGW, would you expect the airline to pay for your transfer to LHR?
I can understand your frustration that you didn't look before you booked, and it must be frustrating that in your 40 years of travel you've never changed airport before, but what it comes down to is you chose the route based on your criteria. Air France are not responsible for how you get to and from the various airports, that's also your choice.1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?0 -

Sorry, I've just read again, you chose to fly out of LHR but back into London City. As far as I know, AF don't fly from CDG to LCY, so how were you planning to get from CDG to LCY otherwise?
Also, why depart from one airport then return to another?
It looks like you've booked a return from CDG to Brazil, and then effectively you've booked two single tickets from London (any airport) to Paris (any airport). If you'd specified that you wanted to start and return to the same UK airport, you wouldn't have got yourself into the mess.1. Have you tried to Google the answer?

What the OP describes is an open jaw ticket, not a return with two singlesThe website gives the option to return to the same airport but they chose this one as it was cheaper.
