I had this problem with mine a couple of months ago. I looked on the internet for a solution and was told to pull the dishwasher out and tip it sidewards. I did this and it did the trick
I am not very technical but it was something about the float being stuck. 
Good luck anyway hope you get it sorted.
I moved the dishwasher out and the pipe going under my sink from the dishwasher was bent - problem solved :T0 -
So the waste was blocked then and the water backed up and the float switch did it's job.
