Official Trying to Conceive - Thread 10

Hello everyone,

I've not posted here for quite some time. Unfortunately some things happened in my personal life and everything got on top of me so we stopped TTC and instead concentrated on looking after us and getting me better. Anyway, I am going to start reading and responding again and then in January we are planning to go for it again.

There are lots of names who I don't recognise which I hope means that some of the regulars have moved onto the pregnancy thread. I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone who is here now and being part of the thread again.

Ergh my boob pain is ridiculous. I feel sick and really tired too. I'm going to really have the hump if this is just extreme pre-AF symptoms. I'm trying to stick it out until Saturday to test as it's too early now.

That depends on the length of your luteal phase. If you ovulate earlier in your cycle and have a longer lp you can test earlier because theoretically if you ovulated on day 10 with a 15 day lp and then tested on 21 you'd be 11dpo, whereas if you have an 11 day lp (within normal range) and ovulated on day 15 and tested on day 21 you'd only be 7dpo which would be far too early to test.

Also even though these tests say you can test a 4 days before expected AF, if you actually look at their accuracy, it's quite low early on and there's a good chance you'd get a BFN even if you are pregnant, simply because it takes your body a bit of time to build up HCG levels.

Does that make any sense? I think what I'm trying to say is that you should wait as long as possible before you test.

So DD1 is going in for surgery on November he 5th she is having the tendons in her toes cut on both feet .

I have day 21 bloods next week too first lot of bloods were good awaiting news on my day 5 ones & DH tests..........

I had a lap & dye in 2009, it was fine. I had 2 very neat wounds, one got infected so ended up having an extra week off work but nothing too bad. Still have a small scar in my belly button & on bikini line.

Hope your BFN is just a case of the hormone not being strong enough to show as a BFP yet Loudfish.

Laila - hope those are pg symptoms and not pre AF symptoms.

Still waiting for AF. My tummy is starting to make the kind of growling noises it does before she arrives so feeling a bit less hopeful than I was this morning, I'm really achey too which isn't a good sign.
And, (TMI alert) I have a bit of wind and it has a certain aroma around AF time and that's the aroma the wind has at the moment. I'm trying to remain hopeful until AF actually arrives though.
Now I know why OH kept telling me off for wasting the HPTs, if I hadn't tested too soon I'd have had one left for today! Oh well, the ones I ordered online are due to arrive tomorrow so hopefully I can test when I get in from work.

Thanks Code, that makes sense. I've got a Sainsbury's test and it does say only 53% accurate 4 days earlier, that's pretty rubbish so I suppose there is no point disappointing myself early on if there is still a chance it could be BFP later.
I will just try to be patient, I am even preggo or not, a few days won't make a difference...except maybe to my sanity :rotfl:

Thank you, and you too! I did laugh at the wind aroma, I've never noticed that with mine but I am going to be sniffing now :rotfl:
