I suffer from trigeminal neuralgia, and now since a car accident I have occipital neuralgia too. Horrible conditions. Medication has helped the trigeminal immensely so I rarely ever have an attack these days.

I would say wear whatever makes you comfortable. I have one of these which I use when going out in cold weather. I put it under the chin and over my head like a tight snood.

If you don't want to be mistaken for a muslim, you could always wear a wimple! lol (You may even get a seat on the bus!)

I would point out that I have no problems in being mistaken for a Muslim.

As for the wimple, it's an idea.

Some great outdoors ideas. Now I need to think of something for inside - not slobbing at home, cause unless I suddenly develop a football manager type simulator in my face, I doubt DH would notice. But something I could pull off in a work meeting without looking like "that weirdo from IT".

I shouldn't worry about that too much, we all know everyone in IT is a weirdo anyway. :p

Oi!! I take back all the nice things I said about gitdog!! :p

But yes, we are all weirdos. Especially me. Hence the dressing as a bear.

  • I think if you turned up to an IT meeting in the white bear hat combo, it would be the most interesting IT meeting in the history of IT.

I love a snood and was bereft when they went out of fashion and were impossible to find. They are now easy to find and very snuggly. I am also a fan of hats with ear flaps when it is very cold :D Fashion advice I would never give but I do know how to keep warm :rotfl:

When I worked in a cold office I wore bright pashminas etc to work and would wrap myself up as needed, never got too many weird looks! I did also wear earmuffs into work and would happily sit with them on for a good hour or so before realising that everything sounded muffled though so don't take my advice on office appropriate head warmth!

If you make your colleagues aware of your condition they shouldn't think you're too weird (heck, if I needed to wear a bear hat in the office to stay out of pain, I'd do it and to hell with people who think I'm weird!) but you could have things like this or this to wear to meetings (with a nice scarf if needed) so you don't look too crazy. :)
Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!

  • The best thing to protect your ears is cotton wool, this is what I use to stop getting earaches through the wind, you could also use a snood or hat with earmuffs. You should not need to wear any of this indoors as it should be warm enough to prevent triggering your condition.
