Fibre for new build property

Hoping that someone can help with a problem trying trying to register for a fast internet connection in a new build property. I recently moved to a new build flat which is a new build in a built up area. The new postcode is recognised but only on some sites so when I check if I can receive Cable or Fibre to the premises the website either tells me that the post code is not recognised or the website does recognise the post code but tells me that I'm not in a Fibre area. If I use the post code and the phone number of a house next door that has been there for years I'm told that I'm in a Virgin Cable and high speed Fibre area.
I don't have a phoneline installed. If I check on BT's website and Plusnet's website and provide the postcode and property number they both say that I'm not in a Fibre area. I phoned Plusnet and was informed that I'd need to contact BT regarding the new property. BT said that's wrong, that any supplier I choose will connect me. The problem I have is that I'd like to order Fibre from the start, not install a phone line first (if I go with BT, which I don't want to do) or go with Plusnet for phone installation and ADSL (and I don't want ADSL either).
Anyone been in the same situation? Is there anyone that I should call? Does the new build property need to be registered with someone somewhere and have the closest phone cabinet assigned to the property?
TIA

The physical cable/fibre/wires will either be from BT or Virgin.
If you don't have any cables/fibres/wires, then you will need to get BT or Virgin to install them.
Once they are in, then you can choose a package. But it's worth remembering that Plusnet are owned by BT, so if your dislike of BT is strong, then you'll want to avoid Plusnet too.1. Have you tried to Google the answer?

Its not always the closest cabinet though. I had the issue with the exchange not being the closest one when broadband 1st started rolling out.
Because of that i was outside the initial limits of broadband.
I dont think you can get PlusNet or BT fibre without a phone line. So if you dont want a phone Virgin is the only option.
Maybe its something BT can do later on? Keep the fibre BB and drop the phone side?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
It would be foolish to refer to fibre when you only get copper. The rest is just marketing hype. If you want the fastest, go with cable BB, anything else is a compromise. I'm on a 120Mb connection and don't have fibre.
Neither does anyone else in my area.0 -

If that's your definition of 'fibre' then everyone in the country is on fibre.0

Please point me to where it is possible to get 120Mb where more than the last stretch to the premises is copper.
I said street box because cable does not have exchanges as such and one of their street boxes is far more than just a cable junction box (as are the ones for BT's Infinity fibre offering)
From Virgin websiteThe mega speeds of up to 100Mb that you can get with Virgin Broadband are thanks to fibre optic cable. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
