Why do not people just pay another couple of quid and go to a proper shop?

I'm sure if the TV was £2 more expensive from a local shop that included delivery then most people would.

However it is often the case that internet shopping doesn't work out like that.

    Try it and see.

Why do people ask dumb questions on internet message boards?

Comparing some of the "legit" internet sites with places such as Tesco, Sainsburys, Currys, John Lewis etc, the savings are not much, and if there are any problems you just take it back and they change it.

Also keep a few more people in jobs

I might just be old fashioned though.

I used a sturdy box which I then placed the TV in. The TV itself was wrapped in plastic and then paper and also a thick packaging blanket which I had recently received from the delivery of another item. The TV was well packaged, looking at the damage it must have been thrown on the floor by the courier to cause such damage.
And was there any handling instructions on the outside of the box and anything to say what the item inside was?

ebuyer ( NOT ebay) is very much a "legit" site. they are a huge electrial retailer who have been around for a very long (in internet terms) time.

Trouble is you cannot physically take something back and get face to face with a human being to sort matters out. OP stands to lose hundreds of pounds whilst showing a possible saving of ten or so.

You can't with Amazon, are you suggesting they're not "legit" either.

In any case, consumers have more legal protection (DSR) when buying online than they do in the high street.

True, but personally I wouldn't buy anything big and fragile from Amazon. Less hassle to get from a shop. I like the option of going in and making a loud fuss if I am not happy.
