Hi
Just got a "Prking charge Notice" from Excel Parking today wanting £60 from me.
Looking at older advice seems to say Ignore, but now people are being encouraged to appeal.
What will happen if I ignore, I really dont want to appeal if I dont have to.
The letter even has a picture of my car parked there and leaving and looks offcial etc.

Can someone guide me on the best course of action

Your thread is surrounded by threads that have received advice to appeal.
The POPLA Decisions thread shows that the circumstances of the alleged offence are irrelevant - it is simply that the PPCs do not have the right to hit you with these costs. The grounds for appeal are there.
It takes 2 letters. The first to the PPC appealing and asking for it to be cancelled or a POPLA code.
The second is to POPLA with a full appeal that you can crib from here.
If you can't do that, pay up.
Guidance??? Imagine you are in the Sahara desert asking for some sand.
IT'S ALL AROUND YOU - just read a few threads and then come back if you are still stuck or when you get the POPLA code.0 -

You simply have to appeal & win at POPLA stage - and it's as easy as pie.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I'm not sure what my appeal point is, I cant comment on lack of signage as I've only been there once over 3 weeks and do not remember.
Would it be best for me to re visit the site to investigate first I will do sunday and post letter or send excel parking email monday.
It looks like I may need at least one point of appeal to get anywere, if I dont will that mean I end up paying up £100 for 45 minutes of parking.

Of course you can contend there was a lack of signage without having to go back (but if you can get back then use that time to take photos. To know what to focus on, first of all read the BPA Code of Practice on signage (section 18 and appendix B specifically).
We had a successful POPLA appeal reported this week from a registered keeper who had never been to the car park and yet he included a series of damning paragraphs against their signage! His son had parked there just once and had not seen any clear signs prominently telling him it wasn't a free car park - and it was in another County so they couldn't revisit. You don't have to prove what you say in a challenge - just say it and they have to respond.
You are ONLY going through the motions st this stage to get a POPLA code anyway!
Do not name nor even imply the driver (so no 'me, myself and I' when talking about the incident) and if Excel write a reply pretending they have to be told who was driving then they'd be lying and you would then report them to the BPA and write back demanding a POPLA code.
Also if you just read the example POPLA appeals I have already linked for you in readiness you'll realise that everyone and his dog includes the appeal point 'your charge is not a genuine pre-estimate of any loss' and POPLA are upholding that as the winning point almost every time (which you can see for yourself on the latest posts on the 'POPLA Decisions' sticky thread at the top of this forum).PRIVATE 'PCN'? It depends if you you like playing Russian roulette - if you decide to ignore, you wait to see if Excel will take you to court. They have 6 years to decide, so they could do it before the end of the year or in a few years time, or maybe even not at all. We don't have a crystal ball, so we can't help you there.
On the other hand if you decide to help yourself, try reading this post by Umkomaas, and get up to speed:

I have sent them this..........
Dear Sir/Madam
Parking Charge Notice X107419330
As the Registered Keeper of Vehicle (Reg Number = Y208 URY) I'm responding to the Parking Charge Notice Ref above.
On the day 22/09/2013 the driver of the vehicle did not see clear signs that Pay and Display was needed for the area.
With the Car park being in the same area as the "Chinese Buffet" one would think its the car park for the Chinese Buffet Customers.
The Driver was a customer at "The Chines Buffet" during this time.
Also the charge is excessive and does not reflect the cost of loss, its unlikely 45 minutes of Parking time would have cost anywhere near £100.
Please accept this email as both a complaint and my appeal to the Parking Charge Notice, should you accept my appeal please cancel the Charge.
If you reject I will require a POPLA code to take this matter further.
Yours Faithfully
As from what I've read the first stage is all about getting the ball rolling as the appeal will likely be rejected.CC1 - Owed £4500 ( Now owe £0)
