T-Mobile overcharing for premium rate numbers?
Hi,
I got stung by an 070 number thinking it was a mobile number included within my T-Mobile call allowance. I got charged £0.638 for each approx. 5 second call that I made to the number. When 20% VAT is added that comes to £0.7656.
This seemed like an odd figure, so I looked up the official charges. It said £0.75.
If you remove VAT at 17.5% from £0.75 you get… £0.638.
If you remove VAT at 20% from £0.75 you get £0.625.
So it looks like T-Mobile has been over-charging customers by failing to adapt to the new VAT rate when it was introduced a couple of years ago. It’s only 1.5p per call, but when you’ve got enough customers, that’s going to add up!
What action do you think I should take?
Thanks
John
