Biggest Threats to Cyclists?

Its called SillyCyclists. It is presented as a video series to highlight how not to cycle and presumably would do a rather poor job of that if it didn't feature such cyclists.
Your opinion based on watching those videos that cyclists have suddenly become suicidal lemmings throwing themselves under lorries is wrong and insulting.
I don't watch series such as Police Interceptors, then suddenly declare all motorists are drunken yobbos in stolen cars. Yet that is the blinkered opinion you have formed of cyclists after seeing some clips of bad cycling.
Oh dear. Not read or digested my previous comment(s) correctly have we?
I think you will see (if you re-read it to how it was intended) that I have used the terms "some" or "far too many" (which could actually be a low number... some say 1 is bad enough!) or "it dose happen". I think I even used "good cyclists" somewhere which suggests that I take far from a "blinkered view".
But the fact of the matter is that as the Silly Cyclist clips show, there are those who seem to deliberately put their 'progress' before their own (or anyone else's) safety. The camera dosn't lie... they are out there (bad cyclists) and they are obviously giving all cyclists a bad rep.
I for one hope that in some way, the guy who hosts Silly Cyclists makes a difference and the awareness reduces the accidents which MAYBE attributed to bad cycling.PLEASE NOTEMy advice should be used as guidance only. You should always obtain face to face professional advice before taking any action.0 -

No I read them fine and can can see you have pounced upon youtube videos as a reason to have a sly dig at cyclists, adding the obligatory final word of advice or hope for improvement to some of your posts so that it appears you're not.

The whole problem with this is the way people split into two groups - cyclists and motorists. .
I think this is it. On any car journey people will be more annoyed/inconvenienced/have a near miss with other cars than they would cyclists, but the difference is that they can't blindly condemn all drivers as they are one of that tribe themselves!
It's also a symptom of the rage and frustration people feel stuck in their little motorised boxes. If they spot a cyclist hop on the pavement for 2 seconds (no pedestrians in sight) then the jealousy that they can't do the same festers into hatred. After all, if a cyclist does decide that as there is nothing coming they are going to ignore the red light whilst the car waits, what effect does that have on the motorist? None whatsoever. It doesnt get the car driver anywhere any quicker or slower. Its just the impotent rage that someone is doing something they cant get away with.
Its the same reason as my motorcycling friends tell me that cars move over to deliberatly block them from filtering past queues of stationary traffic.
Sadly I cant see any way around this or things changing. The abuse, venom and aggressive driving I get from some car drivers as a law abiding cyclist is appalling and I am waiting for the day that I am knocked off by an incompetent, inconsiderate or aggressive driver.0 -

Unfortunately then, you leave me with an image of a deluded cyclist who is desperate to divert the obvious evidence that there are a certain group of your fellow cyclists who pose a daily risk both to themselves and others by their reckless behavior.
You are very immature in your thinking if you consider that by "adding the obligatory final word of advice" was in "hope for improvement to some of my posts" because it certainly was not.

The way round it is to do what they do in Holland, Denmark, Germany and other more forward thinking countries. Design the road space so that bikes have safe lanes and then you will get more people using them for short journeys and less congestion and conflict.
But of course the government will never invest the necessary money because they only think short term.0 -

What desperation to divert, firstly you haven't noticed that I haven't disagreed with you at any point that such videos showing cyclist taking those unnecessary risks is a good illustration some people are a risk.
What I have done is point out you've got a anti-cycling agenda and have seized upon a series of videos that feature some bad cycling to try and prove that cyclists are getting less not more careful, and to justify your anti cycling view.
I then correctly said your posts are a juxtaposition of that rhetoric and some words of advice/expression of hope for improvement. You, having been caught out that you're just having a pop at cyclists, throw a dead cat on the table by calling me deluded and desperate.
Thanks for the thoughtful comment of 'Safe Cycling Now' at the end of your post though, you've exactly proved my point.0 -
I thought this was interesting

particularly the comparison between the average passing distance in the past and now.0 -

Unfortunately, as several people on here have pointed out several times, but you seem to be conveniently ignoring, the majority of cyclist v vehicle accidents are overwhelmingly found to be the fault of the vehicle driver.
That is fact and isn't a random sampling of youtube videos yet your anti cyclist rhetoric continues in complete opposition to these actual statistics.
If I based my opinions of the world in general on what was uploaded to youtube then i'd think everyone on the planet was some sort of accident prone, suicidal cretin.0 -

We're not. But you simply seem to want to ignore the issues with bad cycling which (possibly) is contributing to the sudden surge of deaths in London. As the Silly Cyclists You Tube clips clearly show, there are far too many cyclists putting THEMSELVES in danger.
Some of the examples are frankly astonishing.
You have simply recently bought in the serial-eating motorist (who I have already agreed was stupid) to "digress" the issue.
No you decided to dip into You tube
I simply showed one from the very roads i cycle on
you seem to think the pass was fine
would you like to answer the point I raised on this acceptable pass you saw0
