I've not done it yet, I read on another thread to leave it until close to the deadline to allow more time to set up the defense letter etc.

As this is pre pofa, does the 8 week deadline for the Notice to Owner apply in this case, does anyone know?

You would have to check the BPA Code of Practice that applied at the time - email the BPA for it using steve.c@britishparking.co.uk

...and it's not just that they were known as SIP, they have used two different names for that acronym if you look at their website.

Have you ever said who was driving, if not then DON'T!
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Thanks, I'll try that.

I've not had any correspondence with them at all, so there's been no mention of who was driving.

Did you get a letter before claim from them? Or did it go straight from the last debt collector letter threatening court to a claim form?

So presumably they have served the court papers on you as the Registered Keeper - since they don't know the driver.
Does either the court claim or letter before claim mention the registered keeper or POFA by any chance?
Who is the solicitor on the claim form (GPB?)
Plz PM me and let me know if you were the driver (don't tell us here)

You need to make a STRONG complaint to BPA about them pursuing you as the RK I will draft you a letter when you have answered the above questions but it may not be today.

Please follow the advice by Daisy.

On the Stop Illegal Parking stuff on their letters, would that have any bearing on a claim of authority in court, or would it not be considered?

I doubt the court will care - it is worth including in a defence but I wouldn't bet my house on it.

Worth including in a complaint to BPA though.

I have checked on the internet, and can only find BPA CoP 1-3 post POPLA. What am I missing?

I have 2 identical letters saying I'd not paid the PCN, then a final notice, saying they would pass it to their solicitors in 14 days, and then a final notice letter with some addition fees threat 4 months later.

The court papers have me as defendant, and the particulars of the claim say that the defendant parked in contravention of t&cs etc.

The first final notice states they have "fulfilled their requirements under the POFA 2012 in relation to commencing litigation"

The solicitor's name is Natasha Sarwar.

Thanks I'll PM you.

One thing I just noticed, according to the court papers, they sent me a final notice on 1/4/13, but the date on the actual letter is 16/5. Don't know if that's relevant, but it's clearly wrong.

Apparently I can't PM you Daisy, you've exceeded your storage and need to delete some?

BINGO!

Re the solicitor - what address does it give for her? Is it the same as the PPC's address, or is a separate firm of solicitors? If so which one?

I have PMs deliberately full atm as I am away from home for personal reasons, but I will be checking in when I have internet access.
