Problems with GiffGaff

Problems with GiffGaff calls and/or texts:

http://community.giffgaff.com/t5/Service-Updates/Calls-and-texts-failing-2-Oct-2013/td-p/10088973

This is the 2nd time in a week.

I need to be able to contact my family and others via a network that works all the time.

Perhaps its time to move away but I have no idea to where.

Summary

We are investigating reports of calls and texts failing. We will supply more information as it becomes available. We have also moved to the redundancy server so that we do not get a repeat of the top up problems that we have seen since friday.

Afternoon everyone,

We're still investigating the problem. Please bear with us while we identify the issue. Our priority right now is getting our contingency plan working, we have invoked the plan to get that up and working and are working to implement that as soon as possible. This will get the service back up and running.

From then we will work to identify the root cause. We have also moved to the redundancy server in order to prevent a repeat of the top up problems that we have seen since Friday. This means that members will be unable to log in or use the main site for transactions or account actions until we have resolved the issu

Guess I must be lucky as I'm still able to make calls so it can't be the whole of the network.

No network will work "all of the time" but it depends what you want to pay and what services you want.

    Is data important?

Are you generally happy with o2 (on whom giffgaff piggy back) coverage?

Not impressed at all, Mrs SG couldn't call me earlier, once in a while is understandable but this is pushing their luck of even the loyal.

I do think O2 is falling apart rapidly, I am stuck with them for my phone as my company has a massive deal with them but on the road today the dropouts made it hard work and when using my data connection even whilst the laptop is in one place the signal fluctuates wildly between GPRS and 3G regularly over a short period.

Oh well, I'm in the same boat. Had to keep resending text messages to my dad (was meeting him around 5pm). Some went through "not sent" on my end but showed up duplicate times on his phone.

Calls not connecting AT ALL. I'll watch the GiffGaff forums I guess :(

Giffgaff.com isn't allowing anyone to log in, a wise move probably as it would just get flooded with complaints/questions.

"Unfortunately we are currently experiencing intermittent issues with Calls and Texts. As a result website functionality has been disabled. The community is available, however it's not possible to login yet.
We are currently working as fast as we can to fix the problem and are very sorry for the inconvenience this is causing."

At least they admitted on the front page its up the spout...

Takes the heat off me from Mrs SG who is still suspicious the custom ROM I put on her ZTE is the issue!

Just tried to send a text message - it was reported as unable to send but my wife says she got it 6 times!

I've been with giffgaff for a long time but I'm getting tired of the network, website and payment problems. I guess, like many things in life, you get what you pay for.

Perhaps it is time to move and pay more for a better service.

    Summary

We currently have an issue with calls and text messages being intermittent - we've brought the service back to a stable condition, and are monitoring it. We were running on our outage server for the website, but we're now running on the main site again and monitoring our activity here as well.

Just a note that giffgaff have gone down again. Three times in under a week !

Looks like their much vaunted plan (last year) to improve resilience has not worked.

I think it is O2 that brought them down this time.
