Requesting a MAC code via post

Hi I was wondering whether anyone has successfully requested a MAC code from their broadband supplier by post rather than by phoning them. Reason for asking: I know I will be kept on the phone for a while being passed from person to person then put on hold etc trying to sell me a new deal etc etc before I eventually get my request authorised. I've made up my mind I want to move supplier, so a simple letter sent through the post would be far quicker and convenient for me. So is it worth it, are they obliged to send me a MAC in return, or should I just endure the phone? Thanks.

...but a letter through the 'post' is not simpler or more convenient for anyone. What if it goes missing? Will you send a letter asking if they got the first letter? And then another letter...
If you can't face phoning them get someone to do it for you or don't move supplier.
And mind its often the case where you don't need a MAC at all. Check with the new supplier (best not to write a letter mind you!).0 -
Or just send them an email. Much easier. And quicker, too.0

I believe that the MAC process as dictated by OFCOM,requires ISPs to provide two methods of requesting a MAC.
For instance, Plusnet its over the phone or by post., but not via their ticket system or email.
HOWEVER, I'm led to believe that some ISPs (SKY??) make it virtually impossible to ask for a MAC by any other means than the phone. If you write they just reply asking you to phone them !!!
Think that you are better biting the bullet and phoning!0
