Ebay free listings?

Can anyone give advice to an ebay novice please ? I have advertised some kitchen units with the option of buying the appliances separately on request. Someone has asked me what I want for the whole lot. If I give a price and then someone makes a good bid for just the units I have a dilemma. Any help appreciatedmetoyoubear wrote: »If they are local, couldn't they come view what you have for sale and pay you in cash if they want to buy your items, cut out Ebay

If you sell anything for 'collection' NEVER accept paypal as payment - always insist on cash for collection. Otherwise you have no 'proof of tracking' and the buyer can collect the item then claim their money back from paypal at a later date.
(Plus you also avoid any paypal fees)0 -
Here is a link for the royal mail cardboard template to anyone that needs it. Please note it does not include the 8cm cube exemption though (which also goes as a small parcel and isn't always known about)

Op, it might be better to wait for a free listings weekend and start off at the minimum price you are happy to accept.
There is a chance of something selling for the initial price of 99p - and with all the latest amendments of higher postage charges, ebay now taking fees from postage costs as well as the item, paypal fees etc. you could well be out of pocket otherwise0 -

Yes, you can use a ruler, personally I just use envelopes the correct size eg 10 x 14, 14 x 17, only problem is most of my parcels are thin around the edges and fat in the middle, so its not size thats the problem, its thickness.
Have you ever tried measuring the thickness in the middle of your parcel? the edges may go through but gets stuck in the middle, because its thick.:DLooking forward to the day I have nothing left to list on eBay0 -

Yes. Just put the ruler at the side of the item, something flat across the top and see where it comes to. I've measured a few items recently that were really weird shapes and thicker at different points. Used a ruler for all and had no problems whatsoever.0 -
Could anyone please tell me how I can find out about these weekends? People at work receive an email but I only receive offers for goods to buy. I seem to have checked all the right notification boxes on my account settings but still no joy. I missed the most recent free listing. Don't want to pay as I'm not sure the things will sell and could end up losing money.0

There's usually an update on the site BUT rarely before the Friday of the weekend - of course its also posted here quite rapidly too0

I noticed the link of the last free listing weekend didn't follow the usual format, the date wasn't in the URL. If this is how they are doing it in future then we won't be able to find out in advance by guessing the link and having a look so they may have cottoned on to that.
I understand they probably think that they don't want to give us too much notice as we won't pay to list and will wait for the free listing but many do that anyway even without knowing when the FLW will be, and surely us having more notice means we have more time to prepare items/listings to put on which makes them more FVF fees??0
