Ebay free listings?

Hi guys,

I haven't sold on ebay for a little while but I've got a couple of days off work and have had lots of stuff put aside for ages and ages that I'm going to try and make a little bit of dough on.

Listings used to be free for certain categories (mostly I have shoes, clothes and costume jewellery) if the starting price is 99p, is this still the case? And it doesn't apply if you use turbo lister, am I correct? I did have a look on ebay but couldn't find anything- there is a possibility I was looking in the wrong place... :o

I'm hoping to get all the things up tomorrow so they get a 10-day listing to finish the following Sunday!

TIA,

Caroline

Yes, if you are a private seller starting listings at 99p or under it is free. There should also be a free listing weekend soon (this weekend?) where private sellers can list at any start price for free.
  • Thanks, that's really helpful!

  • Hi Caroline ,
I got a free listing for 100 item if less than 99p yesterday that runs through until the 1st November.
I didnt get an email I just relisted one item and it triggered it.

What I need though is 100 free listing over £1. So fingers crossed for that this weekend.

Also , dont know what your going to be listing but since you say you havent sold recently , be aware that the postage charges have gone up and ebay now takes a cut out of the postage aswell , I got stung on a few items because of them & the post office charging more now.

Hi Caroline - re the postage it is now sometimes cheaper to use a courier like "my hermes" to post the parcels also beware of the small parcel sizes - I got stung because my small parcel was too big to fit in the post office measuring thing so I got a free measuring thing from royal mail via their site to make sure my small parcel was a small parcel!

    Hope you sell lots :)

Hiya! Can you tell me where to find this 'measuring thing', please. I've had a look on the RM website, but can't find it. More often than not, I can't squeeze my parcel through but I'm sure I could fiddle about with it, if I had a measure at home to play with. Thanks in advancce.

Can anyone give advice to an ebay novice please ? I have advertised some kitchen units with the option of buying the appliances separately on request. Someone has asked me what I want for the whole lot. If I give a price and then someone makes a good bid for just the units I have a dilemma. Any help appreciated

You can make the measuring template out of cardboard. Personally I just use this amazing little thing called a ruler. The RM site tells you the sizes. I don't get why so many people have a problem with the sizes...

Anyhow, as others have said, postage prices have gone up and ebay now charge final fees on the total price (item+postage) rather than just the item price. It might also be worth checking out couriers (although in my experience of buying, My Hermes hasn't delivered half the stuff I've bought).

I assume the units are all in one listing? If you have a price in mind for the lot and they are happy to buy then you can add a Buy It Now (if they are listed separately you can cancel them and put them together as a BIN listing). If someone bids you can either let it run if you haven't agreed a price or you can cancel the bid. If you prefer, you could also just tell them you wish to let the auction run til the end.
