Virgin Trans atlantic, any good ?

In my experience Virgin's standards have slipped at roughly the same rate BA's have improved.
There's nothing between them any more which is a shame because the early Virgin days were fun.0 -
We flew to Orlando with Virgin last year - it was okay but nothing special and I wouldn't rush to book again unless they were a good deal. We might have been unlucky but the planes were tatty and shabby, the IFE wasn't working properly on all the seats and while some of the cabin crew were lovely, others were abrupt and unhelpful.
I'm sure the newer planes are much better but looking at prices for 2014, VA look to be quite expensive."Harry, I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Every day, once a day, give yourself a present. Don't plan it. Don't wait for it. Just let it happen. It could be a new shirt at the men's store, a catnap in your office chair, or two cups of good, hot black coffee."0 -
I think virgin is very average, these days the only good thing they offer is the virgin clubhouse, which is only available for travel in upper class.0

Its not just available to UC, you can go in the club house if you sign up to the guest list, no matter what class you travel - its not free though!0 -
Was only available for UC at one time, and from reading the reviews of it, now they are letting everyone in it is overcrowded and poorer quality. Shame.0

Or if you book with Virgin Holidays you can also buy access to just the lounge rather than having to do the whole guest list thing.
For Economy then most airlines are very similar and its more down to what aircraft you happen to be on. Its been a while since I last went on BA but VS certainly used to be better in PE and likewise UC being better than CW/ business.
Where Virgin does distinguish itself is in its own clubhouse (lounge) at LHR which in my opinion is much better than the likes of BA business class lounge and probably more inline with the BA First Class Concorde Room.
If you are going Economy and dont collect miles etc then book on price/ convenience0
