And not to mention, if the flights are same/similar price, any Avios earned are far more usefull than Virgin miles.

LHR to Orlando Rtn earns 8872 Avios. To/from regional airports another 800

With Band 1 reward flight savers 9000 Avios rtn (+£35) a weekend in France,Germany, etc is a nice bonus

When we went last year we paid about half the price of the Virgin flights by going with American Airlines and having a stopover in New York. Might be more difficult with little ones but something to consider.

Hmmm this is interesting , we went to New York before we had kids and we loved it , would love to go again , but , probably wouldn't be as enjoyable with a 5 and 3 year old !!

I've flown three round trips to the USA with Virgin and have absolutely no complaints.
Agree with the comment about the cheap seats being much of a muchness, I'd let price be your ultimate guide.

I flew Virgin LHR to MIA and LAX to LHR last Xmas. On both planes the seats were old and very uncomfortable. The Virgin website indicates the fleet is being refurbished, but on this experience I would chose BA over Virgin any day.

They also bring dessert round after the meal, instead of giving you everything at the same time, which is annoying on the night flight, as I just wanted to eat and get to sleep as quickly as possible.

I like Virgin but some of their aircraft are old. If you get on their newish Airbus A330s they are really nice. I flew with them to Vegas this year and the leg room, in flight ent, and service was brilliant!

Also had a cracking deal before £99 to upgrade to premium coming home from NY well worth the upgrade!
I've flown with them about 4 times.

You will never get a totally free flight as the government want their taxes.

Cost me just short of £ 400 for 2 people return ...I'm happy with that. :D

Flew in September to Barbados from Gatwick with VA. Went out in Economy but paid for extra leg room seats (I think they were about £30 per person). Flew back Premium Economy and it was very nice but not sure if it was worth it. There were fewer people and more cabin crew, the seats were bigger, had tea on real plates with real cutlery and there was a PSP type controller for the in flight entertainment. Had no complaints re the service and drinks are free in all classes. in flight entertainment was excellent.
