Unlikely she will get anywhere without independent witnesses. Tell her to do one.

Tell her to sling it. she's probably scraped it in Asda's car park and because you were struggling to get out she's decided you're a likely culprit to take the blame.
  • Thanks for the reassurance guys :)

I went out and checked her car earlier, there is a light scratch to the front bumper about 3 inches long but the proximity of this to my car would make it nigh impossible for me to cause without some force (there were numerous other bumps and scrapes on the car also). I made it clear to security that i wouldn't be approaching her about it and that if they checked the camera they would be able to see me get out of my car on a couple of occasions to check that i wasn't getting too close. They also said she shouldn't be parking like an absolute fruit loop anyway and that it's just asking for trouble to which I would be inclined to agree!

It should be noted that parking as an absolute fruit loop does preclude you from claiming from someone who drives into your car

You also need to consider that you getting out of the car to check could be construed as you checking that you'd caused no damage after dinging the other car.

If she tries to go via the insurance on this, she'll just end up having to claim against her own policy, in which case she'll be ramping her premiums for the sake of a light scratch.

She could pay for the damage to be repaired and then go through the courts to recover the cost.

To be honest I don't think she is THAT bothered but just thought it right to accuse me of something she didn't know 100% that I'd done.

Forget about it. If it's as you say there's no way she can make a successful claim against you, either through her insurance or in court. Don't even discuss the matter with her.

You mean to try to establish that on the balance of probability the OP is responsible. Not likely on what has been revealed so far. It looks like a scam to get payment for existing damage.
