Wireless DVD 2.1 Cinema Recommendations?

With my ongoing search to change my TV's etc I have now come to my DVD cinema system.

We did have a 5.1 Sony DAV-S300 Home Theater System which was fine BUT we only ever used it as a stereo 2.1 system with 2 speakers at the back which was fine.

Now looking i didn't realise you could buy just a 2.1 stereo system which would suit us perfectly with a DVD.

We have just had a new carpet, so would really need Bluetooth? or wireless as wires DID go under the carpet so i believe there are wireless systems available (the sub-woofer could be wired) as thats not a problem

I did see some Sony DVD systems 2.1 but can't really see a comprehensive Sony list or (any other manufacturer) for wireless 2.1 DVD home theatre, that i could then search on say amazon?

Direct searches on eBay and Amazon dont seem to be bringing up much?

So what's wrong with the old system and what will be better about the new one? Where does the power come from for 'wireless' speakers? Surely thin wire shoved between the skirting board and carpet isn't a problem for 2 speakers and a sub?
You don't mention budget. I'd rather buy a Blu-Ray player these days. And keep the amp separate. You could do this for £150-£250 for something that will sound far better, depending whether you have any speakers you can re-use. £50 Blu-Ray, £100 AV Amp, £100 stereo speakers.
Richer Sounds will try to sell you something, but will give better advice than most.

At a given price level, a 2.0 stereo system would be the best option, surely?

Yes a 2.1 stereo DVD cinema would be perfect, the only reason im thinking about 2 wiresless back speakers is that we are just having a new carpet being laid so cables underneath is not an option (and it crosses a threshold/walkway)

If you are using just 2 speakers and a sub (2.1) why are you putting the 2 speakers at the back? A 2.1 setup for a TV would be one speaker either side of the TV and the sub pretty much anywhere as in theory it is non-directional.

Remember even if you have a "wireless" system the speakers are actually wired, normally you'll find one rear speaker needs to be plugged into the mains and the second speaker is wired to that one though you may find some where the two rear speakers are separate but both need to be wired to a power socket.

Are you sure you arent using a blended 4.1 system using the TVs own speakers for the front 2 and then the kit for the 2.1?
