Hi just received my new water bill as have many others I can see....
My DD WAS £23 per month which was an estimate after going to direct debit.
Its now changing to£71 per month starting next month.
It seems they've fitted a meter and it breaks down like this
26/09/12 - 31/03/13
87 cubic m (estimate)
01/04/13 - 18/07/13
35 cubic meters (estimate)
NEW METER (READING)
23 read 23/09/13
Do the usage readings seem okay?
We are 2 adults and an 8 and 3 year old.

The UK average usage is approx. 55 to 60 cubic metres, per person, per year.
So for your 4 occupants the average would be 220 to 240 cubic metres per year. So your readings indicate 145 cubic metres in the year; well below average.
The costs are dependant on where you live as prices vary hugely across the UK. Water and sewerage can cost well under £2 a cubic meter to well over £5.0
