Have just eaten our Beef Stew with Rosemary Dumplings (actually it was Thyme cobbler not rosemary dumplings in the end).

Was very tasty if a little more liquid than we usually have when we make the Delia Smith Beef Stew in her Complete Cookery Course. (our staple for beefy stews).

DH wasn't overly into the thyme in the cobbler scones (oh and I added 50g of cheese to the topping).

All in all though, we said we'd happily eat again and another thumbs up for R' Digest Amazing Meals. :D Was quite a cheap meal for us too as I'd got YS Braising Beef at less than half price, the total ingredients coming to £1.76, however this was for just 2 large portions and a small lunch portion.

Again a simple one to make.

Brown floured meat in pan. Set aside.
Lightly brown onions, carrots, swede & parsnip and garlic clove.
Add 750ml stock (or water) to veg in pan and deglaze.
Add seasoning, big squeeze of tomato puree, tbsp. red wine vinegar, half tsp sugar, pinch herbs & 2 bay leaves.
Return meat to pan with other ingredients.
Bring to boil then pop in oven Gas mark 2 (150c) for 2 hours.

After 2 hours make cobbler topping:
    6oz SR flour
    2oz marg
    3floz milk
    s & p
    Pinch of thyme
    50g cheese.

Either pulse in food pro or rub in and add milk to make a dough. Break off pieces and flatten between hands to form discs and place over stew.
Cook at Gas mark 3 (160c) until golden.
    Serves 2 + 1 lunch.

Think I might be offline while phone line and BB being changed. Hope not for long. :(
My next recipe planned is Potato Curry with Peas and Mushrooms. It looks gorgeous. If not online I shall take photos ready to post when I'm back. :D

I nearly went with the Grocery challenge list, too!

As regards photos, I upload mine to Photobucket. They give you a link to paste into your post which pops the piccie on.

I'm sure there was a post on the boards somewhere that explained it easily. Might be worth a search. ;)

Toasted Crumpet with Warm Spiced Berries, Yoghurt and Honey.

Ok, I've done it! To be fair, this first one can hardly be called a recipe, they do make you scoot the berries round a pan with a bit of spice but essentially the majority of the cooking is done in a toaster!

Still looks like a pretty yummy breakfast to me. :T

OK, so here are my pictures. Recipes all from A Girl Called Jack's blog.

Mexican Black Bean, Chilli and Chocolate soup

I didn't have any black beans or chopped tomatoes so I used black eyed beans and watered down tomato puree instead. It was quite bitter but I'm putting that down to the 85% cocoa chocolate that I used (Jack's basics dark chocolate is 41%) so I sweetened it with some brown sugar. Once I did that it was really tasty.

    Easy Peasy Soda Bread

Very simple, pretty bland tasting but it didn't matter as we had it with the soup which needed a bland carb really.

Kidney Bean falafel with spiced tomato sauce

Really nice. We didn't have any fresh coriander but we added dried and they were yummy. The sauce worked well too. We served them in a value pitta bread.

Had made a couple of changes to my menu plan this week and will now be doing another recipe from my book - a cauliflower dansk on Thursday, so that will be 3 new recipes this week.

At this rate I'll be getting through the book much quicker than I thought would be possible. I think there are about 55 recipes in the book so certainly enough for anywhere between 6 and 12 months depending how many I do each week and how many get added in as regulars in the future! the first one I did will be!
