I am but just haven't had the time to post. I have done about 7 or 8 recipes since my last entry and will try and find the time to add details of them soon.0 -
I had been following the thread with interest too but not contributing. I have more cookery books than you can shake a stick at and always cook old faithfuls. Following this thread I have been checking out my Hairy bikers books - we have made the Pan Haggerty twice - a real hit and also the Spanish chicken.
Will flick through later and choose my next recipe and report back.0 -
I've been a bit slack recently, but managed to squeeze in a few more hairy dieters recipes
Spanish-style chicken bake was tonight - I substituted a few veg for what I had in. Really lovely, although next time I'll cover the chicken with the veg as it was a bit dry.
Skinny beef lasagne was OK, but I think I undercooked the leek so could probably be improved upon...
Special cassoulet was really good - a bit meat-tastic, so as another poster has said, quite expensive, but tasted good0 -
With Christmas coming up I'm going to be less adventurous over the next few weeks, but might give some of the omelettes a whirl...0

I am following too, and it is definitely encouraging me to use my cook books more, and as book people had a special offer on cook books I am adding to my collection (don't tell DH).0 -
I have also been inspired to add to my collection of cook books and have bought hairy bikers mum knows best. Have tried the sweet & sour pork. Must say there was too much pineapple for my taste and my batter was no where near as good as the picture. Edible though.Spend less now, work less later.0

Tempted to have a go at this in the new year, doubt I'll go through the whole cookbook, but I will at least try a few more recipes, than just the 1 or 2 that I tend to stick with0

We had the Hairy dieters sweet and sour chicken. I liked it. Can't comment on ease of cooking or cost as DH did it but he was on a fast day when we had it and he still came in under calories so it's all good!Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0

I made the cassoulet from the first Hairy Dieters book. It was very tasty but I thought it was quite an expensive meal with chicken thigh fillets, posh sausages and a large piece of gammon. My husband loved it though, probably because of all the meat in it
. My daughters ate it but thought it was a little too spicy for them. I enjoyed it but I prefer my own version of sausage and bean casserole which works out at half the price.
Verdict - Very nice, would make again if I could get the ingredients at a reduced price. Will give it a 9/10...
I made this last night and really enjoyed it, I got the meat ingredients from Aldi so it wasn't expensive. I agree it was a little too spicy, I'll adjust that next time.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0
