NEGEAR wireless internet connection problem

Some of you may have noticed my last thread regarding my computer going bust. Now have a clean install but I have no CD for my Netgear adapter (wg121). There is a router which is connected with my brothers PC DG843G I think its model number is.
I had the netgear files backed up on CD a while ago, used that to install it but nothing happens, it says 'error' and then says something like Adapter cannot turn on.
I have two adapters and neither turn on (no green light), I know they are not faulty. Tried unplugging, reinstalling and even blowing restarting the computer.
Someone must know the trick to sort this out.
Thanks,
-MoE-

plug the pc/laptop into the router, and download the drivers for wg111v2Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0
-
Can't do that because the router is all wired up in my brothers room which is upstairs. I done this last time somehow without the CD, its just something is wrong this time. I also remember using the files on another CD, not original a copied CD, I just backed up some Netgear setup file which works.
I even installed it ok on this computer, it just keeps saying adapter cannot turn on.

So, is it installed or not? When you plug the adapter into the computer what happens?0
-
Router is working as normal since day 1, its never been touched but the adapter which is on my computer has been problematic because I just re-installed Windows XP and I no longer have the installation CD. couldn't find anything on the net, so confusing.
When I plug the adapter in it says 'It says Welcomes to Found New hardware wizard' When I click next it installs NETGEAR and says backing up restore points etc which is fine but then at the end of this process it says 'Cannot Start this Hardware' and beneath that 'The device cannot start (code 10)'0 -
Device failed to start.
Click Update Driver to update the drivers for this device. On the General Properties tab of the device, click Troubleshoot to start the Troubleshooting Wizard.
Did this happen before or after you installed the drivers from your CD?0 -
happened after. I just tried installing this onto my laptop and it worked first time round, connection was up in about 60 seconds.
How can I update the driver without an internet connection? Ive got the latest one on there, not sure if this was the right way but downloaded the latest update which was version 1.1 and put it on a memory stick which I then put into my computer and updated.
So it is updated. By the way when I FIRST tried to install the adapter everything worked fine but there was limited connectivity so I took the adapter cable out of the usb hub and put it back in. Thats where the problem started.0 -
Limited connectivity? With the Netgear Wireless Utility or Windows XP Zero configuration?
Also, version 1.1 of what? From where? My XP disc should have the correct driver anyway. Maybe your installation is causing a clash. Uninstall it.0 -
At one point it was all working fine but the signal was weak, thats what I meant to say.
You need Netgear software installed in order to use the adapter. The adapters driver is Netgear WG121_v1.1. Well thats the latest software on the net, been checking for a while.
I un-installed everything but that did no good. Even re-installed Netgear software but same problem.0 -
You didn't answer the first question.
