Definitely buy one and even better see if you can get some family members to club together! My parents have a cheap as anything one that we all use and it has been fabulous. However, still give the paper a good scoring and a good spray with a washing up liquid/detergent solution and let it soak in first.

If it is an older house, be prepared for a few surprises. Some sections, even on the same wall, will just peel off and others seem to have been superglued on with no apparent logic. If you've got anaglypta or woodchip, be brave, it is often there to hide a multitude of sins so, however careful you are, lumps of plaster may come with the paper! I'm living with horrid anaglypta in the hall and landing because I'm just too scared (and strapped for cash) to deal with what's lurking underneath!
