Tell him to send back and you'll refund. Then send a list of very explicit instructions on how to send it via RM using the most expensive method possible lol.
  • What about customers who sort by price, and choose the cheapest (say 99p) seller, then when it goes missing in the post, write and ask for the tracking number and act dumb-founded that you don't have a tracking number (like... are you an idiot?) like you committed a mortal sin.

Yeah, I always send plastic washers fully tracked...

I'd be inclined to tell him to use his loaf and google the instructions. What tool was it out of interest?

It was a vacuum cleaner, which is not something that most people would term a tool, and in turn suggests that this chap is a bit unusual...!

Funnily enough, after sending full and comprehensive instructions on how to plug in and use a vacuum cleaner, all I received in response today was the same aggressive message that I received last night.

Without wishing to sound rude, I think this one comes clearly under the bracket of "idiot".

    I hope they were:

    1) Plug in

    2) Tell wife to get on with the hoovering.

    3) Relax with a beer or three

If you get a neg-reply your sorry he can't work out to use the vacuum cleaner, it'll balance it up.

I had a neg from an awful buyer who bought my juicer. Which came in a box, fully assembled and only needed someone who could .....

    a) plug it in and..
    b) put fruit into the top and a cup at the bottom to collect the juice.

Even without instructions, there were clear pictures all over the box, showing the item being used, a 3 year old could have worked out to use it.

She sent some horrible messages, ranting about how the instructions weren't included (untrue) and that all of her neighbours had come round and no-one could work out how to use it. I replied (politely) that I was very sorry and if she wasn't happy, she could return for a full refund and I would pay for the return postage as soon as I received it back. She refused and then ranted about how it was "obviously broken" and that I'd sent her a faulty item.
At which point, I replied with something like..."How do you know it's broken if you don't know how to use it?"

Cue one neg and nasty feedback!
"I may be many things but not being indiscreet isn't one of them"
  • I was looking for shaver adapter plugs on Amazon (i.e. they convert the 2 pin leads to a standard 3 pin plug), and was shocked that someone had marked down the stars in their review because it didn't come with any documentation!

I must admit that I've always had quite agreeable buyers, though I think that many of the things I sell are bought by technically savvy and more experienced eBayers.

I think many beginners and "reluctant internet skeptics" run into the first little issue and think "oh god, I'm being ripped off just like those people on that TV show I watched" and immediately jump on the defensive.
    • The rich buy assets.
    • The poor only have expenses.
    • The middle class buy liabilities they think are assets.
