need ISP recommendations, please

after months of problems, i am ready to give up on Talk Talk. the questions is, where do i go now? i'm currently getting my landline and broadband from Talk Talk, so i need to find a replacement for both. whom do people recommend for price and reliability? should i go back to BT?

i've been reading a lot of the posts, and it seems that people like package deals. i don't need a tv or mobile package. just broadband and landline. we rarely make calls from the latter, so i don't need unlimited weekend calls and the like. just cheap line rental.

any help would be very much appreciated.

thanks in advance.

I believe that a lot of ISP's do require a BT line, so I think that a switch back may be inevitable, unless of course someone knows different.

Do you have big download requirements, ie movie downloads, game playing ? If no have a look at Madasafish - basic package is 5Gb per month download limit.

I switched from Onetel about 5 months ago to madasafish (they are mentioned in his article on broadband - I applied via his link you got a cheaper price, not sure if it is still on offer).

I have been very happy so far.

    Probably worth a look.

Are you in a UK online supplied area, they have a package for £9.99.

Probably a good idea to have a look at Martin's article on the main site.

you can keep the landline with talktalk - since it uses BT's backbone network

I have a BT line and use plus net as my ISP. I also used them when I was with Talk Talk.
I cn recommend them as I have never had a problem with their Broadband services.

  • rainbow_carnage, a lot depends on what your internet usage is like.

If you just do browsing and e-mail, then go for the cheapest deal you can find. The included monthly GB allowance should suffice.

If, on the other hand, you do downloading, gaming or frequent streaming, you'll be better off going with the pricier but better ISPs like Entanet resellers (UKFSN, Vivacity, ADSL24, etc.), Zen, IDnet and Be.

Do your homework, have a look at ISP ratings and thinkbroadband forums.
The true cost of something is what you give up to get it.
