Far as I know apprenticeship schemes are exempt from council tax.

Apprentices are only disregarded, not exempt. You get a 50% reduction only and need to claim council tax reduction towards the remaining 50%.

I've been doing a bit of searching and don't see any where that states council/housing association tenants have to claim as shared room rate, only for private rents.

It might have been a good idea if youy'd mentioned that you'd be moving into social housing rather than the private sector - it would've saved a lot of people's time!

So I am to disregard what my local authority told me about the shortage of 1/2 bed and believe there isn't one based on a single forum post?
