  • Even if by some miracle you only had to pay £22 per week rent you would struggle to manage on the £73 you have left from your wages.
Gas, electric, council tax, tv licence, broadband, food, transport to work etc, etc.
    Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.
  • If you are working you will probably not get enough housing benefit to cover all the rent and will have to make up any difference from your own money.

The rent for the property is around £63.

One Bedroom Rate for my area is £72.69 per week

And the Estimated housing benefits calculator I used earlier this evening put it at around £42.11 covered by housing benefit and £21 to pay weekly from my wage.

    Doesn't this make perfect sense?

Currently I pay rent (around £15 a week) + rates as well as £30 board a week. Far as I know apprenticeship schemes are exempt from council tax.

Luckily my transport is no issue since I would live within walking distance and no tv license as I just use the internet and don't own a TV either way.

I like to believe i'm a saver & planner so would love to make this all work before jumping in without a leg to stand on. :)

    Ashington in Northumberland.
  • The shared accom rate for your area is £65, only £7 odd less than the 1 bed rate.

If I've read this correctly you will have to pay 50% of your council tax.

    Who doesn’t count?

These people are not counted as adults for Council Tax:
    • children under 18
    • people on apprentice schemes
    Would this not mean exempt?

Anyway, I gotta hit the hay.

Thank you all for your help thus far and good night. :)

You have to do the following calculation:

"To work out if you should get a Council Tax discount:
    1. Count the number of adults who live in your home as their main home.
    2. Discount anyone in the list above.
    3. If you’re left with 1 person who counts as an adult, your Council Tax bill will be reduced by 25%.
    4. If this is your main home and you’re left with no-one who counts as an adult, your bill will be reduced by 50%."
So you have to pay 50%.

If you're a saver, why do you need help in furnishing a flat?

If you're a planner, why don't you know about the shared accommodation rate for under 35s?

Your current spending allows nothing for paying utilities, internet, phone or insurance.
