Vasectomy reversal

I'm looking for any advise and recommendations from anyone who has been through a vasectomy reversal. Can anyone recommend a clinic to contact? We have just decided we would like to try to have a child together but as we don't know anyone who has been through this we don't really know where to start.

thanks :)

  • I'd speak to your GP first although they are rarely funded by the NHS.

your GP is your first port of call. while its unlikely it would be done on NHS (though there are exceptions), your GP may well know of reputable clinics or Private Hospitals with a good reputation.
  • Your GP.

I know someone who has had it reversed twice (!) and successfully conceived a child on both occasions.

A friend of my wife met a guy ten years older than her and he had a vasectomy after his children from his marriage that sadly ended.
He had it reversed and she is now 8 months pregnant and over the moon..
It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.

My friend got his vasectomy on the NHS, got it reversed on the NHS then had another one. On the NHS again. They said 'no more'. Not surprising really.

  • I can't believe vasectomy reversals are available on the NHS. What a waste of public money. There's no excuse.

We had to go private for my husbands vasectomy as my area would not fund permanent contraception on the NHS. Obviously they'd fund contraceptive pills, condoms, coils, births and abortions.
  • Thanks for the replies. Could anyone please recommend a particular clinic? We have sought GP advise but he has never dealt with a reversal before so was unable to recommend anywhere. At the moment we're just looking through Google :-/

Sounds like a bit of a rubbish GP! Can't he even refer you to the local fertility specialist at whatever hospital(s) he deals with? Even if you don't get funding, that's still a good place to start.

Please bear in mind that reversals can be rather painful and have a low chance of success.

Your best bet is to look up the private hospitals in your area and see what services they offer. You don't say where you are, so there is no point in giving you a list because the clinics might be hundreds of miles away
