UKPC Car Parking Ticket

Please can you help me, I have been reading the posts about not paying parking tickets issued from UKPC and am not sure what to do. I parked in a retail park in Dundee and went to the ticket machine and read that parking was free for upto 2 hours, I did not realise you had to display a ticket even if it was free so did not bother to get one. I went into Motchercare to pick up an order and was only parked for about 4 minutes (I passed the attendant going into the store). On my return the attendant had issued me with a £100 ticket. I explained that I had only been parked for a matter of minutes and he said he knew that now as he seen me going into the store but could not do anything about it as he had sent it through his mobile. He said he had been a bit quick of the mark and gave me a card to put an appeal in. I put in an appeal in writing but got nowhere with them and said I could not take it any further as their decision was final. I have now received a Notice of intended court action from Debt Recovery Plus Ltd stating that I now have to pay £160 within the next 10 days to avoid court proceedings, a court judgement that will give me a bad credit rating and also be liable for court charges. UKPC know that I was the driver so should I pay this or not?
