I acknowledged the claim on the 30/9 and there is an acknowledgement of service received on the 01/10

What was the date of service of the papers ('service' is explained on the papers and with a quick Google). NOT the date you acknowledged them - you DO NOT necessarily have until 27th but you may do, I can't guess...

Unless you are more proactive about this you may as well pay them. Sorry to be a bit harsh but you seem to have made little progress - unlike most newbies in your shoes who are all over it! And there are HUNDREDS of threads like yours you could be learning from. Loads and loads, not just here! There are pages and pages on pepipoo where you could just read the advice on any court claim thread in minutes:

    http://forums.pepipoo.com/index.php?showforum=60

And do you have a reason to name a court other than St Helens, when you get to that stage of court allocation? As advised above where I told you about jangofett's experience. A badly-understood defence at that court, if you get that judge, will lose IMHO.

Yes i have done a lot of read today, something i should've done when the court forms arrived.

So as i understand it my defence centres on the fact that im the registered keeper not the driver at the time of the ticket, is that right?

This post by lazydaisy suggests making a application to the court when PCN ignore/refuse to send copies of the documents. Is that something anyone can help with the wording on?

This post by Jimmy_Shand seems to me to be a good basis for me to base my defence on, however they had access to letters to argue that they have acted in correctly.

How can i best progress with the defence?

I live and work in St Helens so i don't see a reason to switch to a different court.

    Claim form states 5/12/2012.
  • In that case the registered keeper, not the driver issue is irrelevent as it's post October 2012

You will lose then if you get jangofett's judge. But maybe this won't go to a hearing.

So as i understand it my defence centres on the fact that im the registered keeper not the driver at the time of the ticket, is that right?

You will lose if you try to say 'I wasn't the driver' (if it goes to a hearing). But Jimmy Shand's post is good:

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=63333976&postcount=19

and I think this post by zzzLazyDaisy that you mentioned:

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=63297716&postcount=12

is worth trying once you know if the case is proceeding.

The important point is to submit a bullet point defence by next week so here's some more reading (loads of links I have collated about PPC small claims defence):

    http://forums.pepipoo.com/index.php?showtopic=82744&st=0&gopid=862298

Not sure if I have posted that for you before. Read & follow & copy from all links to give yourself a load of stuff to brainstorm and work with. Then boil it down to bullet points like Jimmy Shand. That will keep you busy this weekend!

Thanks all for your responses so far, i appreciate you all trying to help.

I have spoken to the court and confirmed my defence submission deadline of 28th Oct. So i will start to pull together a defence from all the info.

I have been over to the car park this afternoon and took some pictures of the signs.

This one is at the entrance of the car park:
    entrance-sign.JPG

and this one is of the PCN sign :
    parking-sign.JPG

As the first sign states the car park is for use for college staff between certain times and the driver parked on there outside of these times i feel the reason for the ticket should not apply - "no valid permit on display".

I have also contacted GPB via the email displayed on their site. Ive received this document from Gordons LLP
