No Buying Unnecessary Toiletries October 2013

I am going to have to get it away, trying to see via f/b just now, still a huge amount of time wasters or people offering crazy ridiculous offers, makes me mad:(
It's so annoying it's true, but things are so cheap these days that with a lot of things it's not worth bothering and you may as well just throw them! TBH I freecycle a LOT more than I would have done in previous yearsminicooper272 wrote: »It shows how long it's be since I sold anything on eVay, I didn't realise they were charging for postage! How much are they charging now?
I haven't sold anything since postage rates went up, and I've not bought very much either - absolutely everyone is charging £4 postage (probably that's the actual cost to them now!) but it takes a 99p frivolity up to a £5 'do I really need it'
They take 10% of the postage now to 'encourage' people to offer free postage, but that's completely ridiculous! Most people charge what it costs to post or less so why penalise them?!That's exactly the same as me  I didn't know they took fees from postage either.
I must admit I don't look at ebay nearly as much as I used to since I got shafted by ebay and paypal , the Post Office are shooting themselves in the foot over the price to postage and the buyers know that they can put a claim in for an item that's not sent via trackable postage for a refund
I know, so many people have put in chargebacks via paypal for items not received, and I know 99% of the time it's a total con but I can't prove otherwise! No Buying Unnecessary Toiletries 2023

That's just unfair really. It's £2.70 to post most things, then 37p eBay fees, same for Paypal fees, 20p for the envelope. If you charge just the cost of postage, you would only make 5p on a 99p item. Charge more for postage and people will complain! Nonsense. Better to start giving to charity again or take clothes to those cash for clothes places.
2UUs this morning: H&S shampoo - lasted forever, glad to get through it finally! WBA, but I have so much shampoo to get through firsth!
Garnier minerals roll on deodorant. WBA, I like it, smells nice, but i don't want to spend more than £1 for a bottle, so only buy it if I find it for that price.0 -
That's exactly my view. Went to a specialised car boot at the weekend and was so depressed, cost me £10 for a table, wasted 4 hours and sold 3 things that came to a total of £11 so £1 profit :mad: don't know what people want, they come along, pick up everything you have, ask the price say its too much and then walk off  My first and last time of doing it.
People just want everything for nothing these days. Now having emptied my house I have to put it all away again but it has made me realise just how much stuff I have stashed away. A lot still in the packaging that it arrived in never even opened because it was a bargain!!:(

Oh dear what a waste of time. My husband loves to watch a show called Storage Hunters where people buy repossessed storage containers at auction and sell the contents for profit. Every bit of rubbish they bring out they reckon they can get $100 dollars or $200 dollars etc for it, I think Americans must have a very different attitude to second hand goods to what the majority of Brits do. They have been doing nicely out of yard sales over there for years, can you imagine having one of those here:eek:.minicooper272 wrote: »It shows how long it's be since I sold anything on eVay, I didn't realise they were charging for postage! Very true. BTW ebay take 10% fees on the postage charges so you have to add this in now or you will be out of pocket. I just can't be bothered with ebay now, a lot of hassle for very little money. I would only bother with bigger items for collection only.minicooper272 wrote: »Did someone put in a claim because an item didn't arrive? It's really hard, because you just can't prove anything unless you track it or take photos of yourself sticking it through their letterbox. It's barely worth trying to sell unwanted goods any more though, partly because too many people are doing it. I'm dreading the price of postage now the Royal Mail has gone private - I don't know anything that hasn't just about doubled in price after going private!
It makes you wonder where the prices will go doesn't it, it certainly won't be down.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

Maddiemay - :rotfl:at your stockings story. I have had my fair share of stocking and tights problems in the past, I am tall and at one time you couldn't get longer length tights or stockings so they always ended up around my knees. I used to buy mail order from a company called Silkies or something like that, they did a long leg length, oh the joy of having them where they were supposed to be and staying there.
Two more items have fallen foul of my cull:
No7 Nourishing Lip Shine in Peach
No7 Nourishing Lip Shine in Pink
These are copies of the gorgeous Clarins Lip Perfector but it is nearly impossible to squeeze the product out of the tube, then when you put the lid on it presses on a rim at the neck of the tube and squeezes out the product. I have wasted too much time over the last 12 months with these so out they go.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

Finally UU one of my three target products for this month - Andrew Collinge Perfect Endings Conditioner 250ml now I remember why I stopped using this and stuffed it at the back of the cupboard - the useless press in nozzle thing kept getting blocked and it was impossible to get anything out of the bottle with wet, slippery hands. I ended up leaving the bottle upside down and breaking the top off tonight. Honestly, you would think these people would consider the delivery systems and provide some easier access if they want us to continue to use their products. :mad:Mortgage

I hear ya, sister! It's ridiculous, isn't it? I don't pay money to only be able to use half or a third or it or whatever. And I certainly don't buy that product a second time. These are copies of the gorgeous Clarins Lip Perfector but it is nearly impossible to squeeze the product out of the tube, then when you put the lid on it presses on a rim at the neck of the tube and squeezes out the product. Evening!
I just filled my basket at Molton Brown and then closed the window a bit sharpishI don't need any of it, I just love the sound and I am really into posh shower gels!
I have got a new fetish anyway now (this is a buying fetish not a perversion), gone from filling up my knicker drawer with pretty drawers and now have transferred onto candles, I love lighting candles at this time of year, it fills the room with warmth, so two expensive ones from TKMaxx! £7.99 each down from £30 so hopefully they'll give out a good strongish fragrance!
