I'm still waiting for my 28 days later goody bag too so I'm glad its not just me-was beginning to get worried!
    Debt free 2018 :)

Wins for 2020: April - Flowers, Keyring
  • I got half of my 28 days later goody bag, I got a DVD, comic style book and a cap, with a note saying that the Vans stuff was on order and would take another 3 weeks to come in..........
I wonder why I got half of the stuff when others till haven't got anything
  • I enter most competitions because even if I don't want the prize there will always be a family member of friend that it would come in useful.

I also think it gives you the opportunity to do and try new things that you wouldn't normally do. Myself and my partner went to a Dr John concert on Friday. I would never have gone because a) I hadn't heard of him and b) even if I had I wouldn't have paid all that money to go and see him.

We really ended up having a good night out and spent next to nothing.:D

As for the junk, you can opt out of the majority of them if you read the small print. A lot of the junk mail comes from the people that we are meant to trust like our banks giving out the information by glossing over it when we are concentrating on more important things, e.g. credit cards, loans etc....

I don't know if it still happens but BT used to sell lists of people's details to other companies.

I have to totally agree with everything that's been said already. Go for the comps you are interested in, rather than all of them.

I think people on here are so nice to post all the comps they find, even though it cuts down their own odds of winning. I love reading what everyone else has won, and have even won some lovely stuff myself - the best being the ultimate wii games room.

Comping is addictive - but I look on it as my hobby.

I must spend about two hours a day entering competitions but I don't watch telly and I'm on the computer anyway doing other stuff so it's no great shakes to me.

I only started doing it a few months ago and already have won a few hundred quids worth of prizes, the thing with winning is that it's stuff I'd like but never go out and actually buy for myself or for my family so it's kinda like treats or rewards.

My 12 year old reckons it's like gambling but with nothing to lose and he's right. Plus, for some weird reason it stops me from shopping for treats so it's saving me cash even when I don't win anything, if that makes sense.

I think it must depend on whether the prize comes direct from the comp host or if they have to contact the prize company/donator to send it out.

I'm a bit like dooby - I spend a couple of hours a day entering competitions. I've not been doing it very long but have received a few good prizes. I only enter comps that I want to win or that would make nice gifts for my family.

I thoroughly enjoy doing it and as I spend most of my life on the computer anyway, it's not like I have to go out of my way to do it.

I use the google autofill feature for filling in forms and have a separate e-mail address for entering comps (and a free sim card for the phone).

I am really, really grateful to all of those that post the competitions.:T

I'm just waiting on my Elemis Collagen set but only won a couple of weeks ago and with the postal strikes it might take longer. My other wins have always turned up really fast.

  • Dooby that is a really good point & something to take into account when chasing prizes up. I'm still waiting for a couple of prizes but like snitterling said with the postal strikes at the moment it could be delaying things, I'm going to wait until end of August before chasing up as hopefully post should be more normal then.

I put as many hours into this as I do my job so maybe you should judge for yourself if it's worth it or not. Sometimes I go for a long run of only winning small prizes and think about giving up. Then a big prize comes along and that gives me insentive to do more.
