Twins' birthdays

DD has been invitied to a birthday party for twin boys in her class. I was wondering what I should do with regards the present. Should I get them the same thing (to save them arguing over who wants what!) or should I get them different things (to save their house being full of "doublers"). Or should I get them one bigger present between them?

Anyone on here with any twins (or who are twins themselves) who can give me any suggestions?

Jxx

My experience of buying for my sisters twins (boy/girl) has been that buy different and the 'other' twin has wanted it. I now buy the same but in different colours so they know which is which or buy something to share.

Good luck, I find buying for twins hard and buying for triplets is worse.

I would buy them separate presents as they are both individuals in their their own right. If you don't know them well enough to know their likes/dislikes I think it's fine to buy the same present in different colours.
  • Depending on their age, if it was me, I'd buy them each the same type of present but in a different colour. So if it was power rangers, I'd buy 1 a red one and the other a blue one, or if they like Transformers, then I'd do the same type of thing.

Failing that, a board a game???
I also remember the words of my friends, but I would rather have enemies than friends like you :p

:p would like to make it known that ZubeZubes avvy is a DHN, she's not dancing :o

Being a twin I would say get them different things. If you were buying Xmas presents for 2 children in the same family, you wouldn't necessarily buy them the same thing. If you were getting one a game, then get the other one a game too, if you get a toy for one, then get a toy for the other one, if it makes sense.

I'm not a twin, don't have twins myself or in the family, but I used to be friends with a twin! Does that count?:D I'd say definitely get seperate presents if you can afford to. Her biggest gripe was being treated as one half of a whole, or referred to jointly as *the twins*.

I do think if you don't know them well enough to buy for individual interests, stick with one variety of thing, car, figure or whatever but buy different variations or colours.

I go with the same but different colour approach with my godsons. but with other half's two we have to go with same amount of money as he has a boy and a girl...would be a bit funny getting them both the same lol!

    I have a friend who's a twin.

Neither had much of a gripe with having to share a pressie, but they hated cards addressed to "The Twins". They both hated the thought that there were friends and family members who couldn't even be bothered to write out their names on a joint card, let alone single ones.

They also hated getting the same present each ie: exactly the same outfit or accessories. Their Nan did this right up until they were in the early 20's when she died.

    Hi

My DD attended a birthday party for twin girls last Sunday and their mother requested that the presents would not be identical because both of the girls hate getting the same thing.

i have identical twin sons age 12, in the past i have tried buying them different things, but then they will want what the other has, so i end up getting two any way. plus they hate sharing, would any other brother/sister like shared birthday presents?
whayt i do now is if i buy them a playstation game then i'll get similar ones eg both racing games,
when they were into toys then it would be in different colours,
    hope this helps
enjoy life, we only get one chance at it:)
