    Hi all

    Happy Birthday Master Beans.

    Happy Retirement NAR.

Not a lot happening here today - I think the nearest we have to excitement is hand-washing my green dress!:D

Mr LW had an email yesterday saying CAMRA members are invited to visit a cider-makers near us this evening. He's going to pop along for a bit. I shan't go; it's very likely there's no wheelchair access, and I don't want to turn out just to find I have to sit and wait in the car because I can't get in the premises.

  • Hi all, long time lurker here, finally joined MSE.

Went to a birthday party in London at the weekend and decided to spend a few hours wandering around beforehand. Would have usually bought lunch somewhere that would have come in at £40 at least (2 adults, 2 children) but we took sandwiches, drinks, crisps and sweets, all stuff we already had in the house and our day in London cost us nothing (not counting petrol), and the kids had fun running around the park while we ate.

Have started studying an OU course today, so I bought myself a pair of fingerless gloves last week because I hate heating the whole house when I'm the only one in it, but my hands get really cold when I use the laptop a lot. They're certainly doing the job, especially as I've had the back door open for most of the day as I sprayed the kitchen and downstairs bathroom for silverfish this morning and I want to get rid of any fumes before the kids get home.

LameWolf why don't you call the venue to ask if they have wheelchair access? It would be a shame to miss it if it's something you'd enjoy.

  • Afternoon all

Just back from collecting donations of food for the foodbank outside a well known supermarket. OH and I both went to start the collection off at 9.15 and left at 3pm with OH ferrying crates of donated food back to the store twice because of the weight in the car.

Easy tea of vegetable stew and dumplings tonight and packing this evening for a two day city break to Birmingham. Hope the weather improves as uniformly dull today.

NAR enjoy your last day at work.

LW we had a vineyard tour once and really enjoyed it.

    Master Bitsey Happy Birthday.

Well off for a sit down before I get tea.

Kind thoughts to all who need them.

Had we had a bit more notice (only got the email last night) I might've got Mr LW to call them; I can't do it myself as I'm hearing impaired and have a major telephone phobia.

It's ok - as long as Mr LW brings home some of their produce,;) I shall stay home with the doglets - they only have two more nights here, they're going home Wednesday, so I need to make the most of their company.:o

ETA - Where are my manners? - welcome to the Daily Thread.:o

  • Thanks for the welcome LW :)

I've got a bit of a phone phobia if I have to call someone I know (which is why I always text), but I'm fine when calling complete strangers - strange.

  • Welcome StarryNight.
LW - Enjoy the last few days of your doggie company, hope Mr LW manages to bring you a doggie bag!

Been busy again on my day off - went to the tip (again), packed a couple of bits and emptied the filing cabinet, I'm not taking it so it is being advertised.

Chicken fajitas for tea, just had mine but DD has been held up at work so she can have hers warmed up when she gets in.

Washing line dried again, windows cleaned inside and out and car washed (it will probably fall apart now!).

Take care, NAR - hope you're not too upset! XX

After 40 and a half years I've had enough. I will miss my colleagues, but very little else.
