I have a decision to make, I went to look at some upgrades today as I am now at the end of my current contract with o2.
I have narrowed it down to the iphone 4s and the Samsung galaxy 4s mini (my requirements are, smallish handset, at least 200 mins, and ideally 500mb of data) and I want to spend around £25 a month.
I went in to my local O2 store today and the sales guy said that there are problems with the operating system on the iphone 4s, so best to wait a couple of weeks for it to get sorted and also that there should be some offers on it next month, so he told me to wait.
He didn't push me to try and buy anything else, so I don't think he was trying to persuade me to buy something different, but I did think it was a bit odd.
What do you guys know / think about what I should do?

Debt free since July 2013! Woo hoo! The bank actually laughed when I said I have come in to cancel my overdraft.

I would look into which system would suit you best. Will you want Google integrated into everything (you need a Google account for Google Play app store)? Ditto that Q but with iTunes.
Look at the apps you will use (iTunes is likely to have them all, Google Play will have the vast majority but is missing a couple I personally use).
Will the larger screen of the S4 mini be of use to you (some favour it as they watch a lot of videos)?
Do you need/want seamless integration for iTunes library?
I personally prefer the feel of the iPhone (hate the Samsung plastic feel) and love IOS7, but many think otherwise.
The S4 mini has decent mid range specs but Android moves on quickly so apps are sometimes not optimised for the different hardware levels.
The iP4s is still quite quick but is getting on a bit.0 -
Is it has to be contract? And is it has to be O2?
Have you consider buying a phone and get monthly contract?
Buy £469 iphone 5C from Apple/ S4 mini for £300. Then get three monthly contract, £6.90/ month for 12 month.0 -
IOS is fine on Iphone 4S. What on earth is he on about?0

I have the S4 mini and its an excellent phone. I would have got the the full fat s4 but its not that pocket friendly. Ive had an iphone 4 and have to say its nice but the s4 mini is more up to date and feels nice in your hand even if the reviews say its plastic.0

Probably didnt have any in stock.
Looking for a new phone and the Galaxy S4 does appeal in some ways. But its bigger than my S2 which i thought was huge but got used to that.
S4 mini is not really much of an upgrade to my S2. Same size screen with a small increase in resolution, Slightly bigger battery and a slighty faster processor that will probably kill the battery just as quickly anyway.
I may save some money and get the S3.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Im currently on a nokia N8 so any upgrade will be a lot better! I have a 2nd or 2rd generation ipod touch which I love, so that's why I have been contemplating an iphone.
I don't mind which network. I might be convinced buying the handset and getting a sim only deal could be a good idea.
I use the phone about 60/40 for phone calls and taking photos. I would like something that will be good for the internet so I can get on MSE on the go. (The N8 is pants for internet)
FYI I already have an itune and google play account.Debt free since July 2013! Woo hoo! The bank actually laughed when I said I have come in to cancel my overdraft.0 -
Every one has its own opinion, do what suits you best. i will prefer Samsung, because Samsung is much better in ways plus Samsung is cheaper then apple. iPhone has no difference then the previous iPhone. they are all same.0

To be fair Samsungs tend to be the same as those that came before. The S4 is not much of an upgrade over the S3, slightly bigger screen and slightly more powerful processor (to run their bloated firmware laden with stuff that generally offers no benefit over stock Android). Plus they swamp the market with low end devices that struggle to run a lot of apps leading to fragmentation issues. I'd personally much rather a nexus phone if I went back to android. Apple are overpriced however, esp when you see how much a nexus 4 went for (though i believe they were sold as a loss leader).0 -

The sales guy was probably on about the IOS 7 upgrade which does need a few things ironed out.0
