Writing on Tax Disc faded off
I have a Nil rate disabled tax disc on my car and I noticed that the writing on it has completely faded off. The tax disc runs until March 2014.
I am unsure what to do about this as it is the tax disc being Nil Rated as well as my Blue Badge which entitles me to free parking in some Pay and Display car parks. If it doesn't show the taxation class as disabled, I can see this creating problems when I park.
Can anyone suggest what I can do about this?!
Many thanks

If the detail is hand written, can't you just go over the details with a pen?
If it's computer written, write to the DVLA and ask them for a replacement disc."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0 -
I was worried that I might leave myself open to accusations of altering a tax disc which I suppose is a legal document?0

I agree - it'll look suspect - leave it alone.
Or contact DVLA if you are unduly concerned.0 -
You only need the blue badge. The tax disc makes little difference. You can drive a car with full tax and use the blue badge to get free parking.I have a Nil rate disabled tax disc on my car and I noticed that the writing on it has completely faded off. The tax disc runs until March 2014.

Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

This is the correct answer, otherwise you'd have to pay whenever someone else, e.g. a partner, used their car to take you somewhere.
We do this all the time. My GF's car has the disabled tax as she's disabled and I don't drive it, but when we go out together we go in my car as it's somewhat larger and better suited to holding multiple people and a wheelchair.0 -

Depends on the local authority
IIRC In Bournemouth, a blue badge on it's own only means you can park in the disabled bays, you need to have a disabled tax-disc in order to get free parking0 -

I don't doubt what you say - but that's ridiculous - most unfair - my old dad has a blue badge - but no car.
Younger members of the family take him everywhere he needs to go.
This is blatant discrimination against any disabled person who does not themselves own a car.0 -
I can't remember which local authority has no free parking at all for blue-badge/disabled.0

Yes, many councils are now doing this. You need both a blue badge AND a disabled tax disc to get free parking. All part of extracting more money out of everybody, no matter how disadvantaged, to pay the fat-cat salaries.
In the matter of the fading tax disc - if the disc is hand written and you only write over what as there previously, I cannot see that would in any way be an offence. So long as it was an EXACT replacement."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". Provided that you have the V5 registration document, you can get a free of charge replacement disc from a Post Office.
