This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Good morning everyone
Back to being up early as can't sleep due to belly ache. All the talk of paleo yesterday, made me decide to up my carbs last night and have some butter beans in a chicken and chorizo stew. It was absolutely delicious but am suffering for it now.
GDD decided to not stay. Plan was her and DD were at christening in the day time and DD was going out in the evening, so we were picking up GDD and dropping off DD. The children were all playing and dancing and the grandmother of the christened baby offered to allow them to all stay at her house, so GDD decided she wanted to do that instead. Total change in menu for us to use up chorizo with chicken that had been planned for curry and we sneaked in a cheeky bottle of wine, which was gift from neighbours.
Am using new printer to scan postcards to list on ebay. I am determined I will manage to sell some of these cards but I don't seem to know what I am doing, even though I am very good at selling books and other tat ... oops I mean old precious treasures from this mad house. I need some research into postcard selling, so that is on the agenda for today.
Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for anyone who needs them or just wants them. Keep well and safe and have a super dayLBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin

Morning :hello:
I'm in Cornwall :j :jWe stayed in a B&B on friday night, our room had a harbour view. We're round the corner in a cottage now, we'll be here til next sunday. I was a bit miffed last night, glanced in an estate agent's window and saw 'our' cottage for sale - where will we stay after this year? I like it here
No Morrison's near us, so we went to Asda. Mr tru was trying to redeem himself (we took a detour on the journey down here, ended up at his fave brewery and he HAD to buy beer), he was a very careful shopper. Once we'd unpacked, he made a fab cottage pie and there's plenty leftover for the next couple of days.
Homemade cottage pie is the only OS you'll hear about from me this week, everything else - if I get around to posting again - will be lattes, bacardis and cakeBulletproof0 -
Morning everyone
Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x
Sunny, bright and dry here this morning. Washing in machine as we speak will put on line asap.
DH brought me a cuppa in bed, he's now in the bath, I will head for the shower shortly. Both boys are still in their pits but I will wake them in a while. We're going out for the day today so need to get a shifty on.
They all enjoyed their respective days out yesterday, DH didn't get home until 4.30pm and boys until nearly 7pm - they hadn't had a meal although they had been eating all day, so invited mum and dad to eat at ours, DH and I had just finished our meal, so everyone was fed and watered.
Had a quiet day, just pottering, was really welcome as I just don't seem to get any time nowadays.
Had some sad news last night just after we'd eaten that DH's aunt had passed away, so we're going up North of the border on Thursday for the funeral, managed to get childcare sorted, accommodation booked for Thursday and Friday night, and DH has spoken to his boss about having time off so we're all organised. We're just waiting to find out if anyone else wants to have a lift in our car there and back. We'll be coming home on Saturday as we have commitments on Sunday - it's going to be a busy week!
Keep safe and well x

Hi everyone,
It's been a while since I've popped in. Lots of reasons, mainly after being ill for a week my mum passed away 12 months ago and I haven't felt much like 'foruming' since. I also only had the lap top at home after about 7pm so felt I was not a part of the thread and got a bit lost on it.
Anyway up - things getting a bit better, have to remember to be thankful for lovely husband, daughters, family, friends and colleagues. Also grateful for my job which wears me out as it's shifts but keeps me going and pays the mortgage and bills!
DH has put stew in SC so will have that for tea when I wake up at 4, it's been a long shift!
It's nice to see the thread is still here, I may not catch up with all of it but will try!
Love to all who need it.

Morning All
Tru - Have a lovely holiday, perhaps you could buy the cottage!
Bitsy - Hope DS enjoyed his party.
What a busy few days I've had. DS2 went to get a new passport at their offices in Glasgow so I met him there on Friday morning. Got a few bits and pieces from shops while I was there, met DD for lunch, went to C0stco, L!dl, etc for shopping, got stuck in a big traffic jam on the way home, cooked tea and got him to sort the rest of his stuff to be packed.
Managed to persuade him to buy travel insurance with my bank card (he is going travelling for 6 months), took him to see the new house although we couldn't get hold of the EA so could only look through the windows.
Ds2 had arranged for us all to meet up with DS1 who I haven't seen or heard from in nearly 2 years but he cancelled. No surprise there then.
Took DS2 back to Edinburgh, collecting my new phone on the way. Had a desk and office chair in the back of the car for his flatmate so that's something else out of the way here. Got back about 8pm and did nothing!
A bit of housework is in order here - it's a lovely day so will put some washing out when it's done.
Enjoy Sunday everyone. Take care. XX0 -
Good morning everyone, :j
Sorry I've been MIA for a few days but my lack of sleep triggered some schizophrenic symptoms and I needed to take care of myself. Anyway, I've caught up on a bit of sleep and feel 100% better. :j
Busy day today as I am taking my whole family, grandkids and all to church this morning for the Harvest Festival and then there is a shared meal afterwards. Hubby didn't seem too keen until I pointed out the food bit:D. I'll need to get a wriggle on and jump in the shower in a minute before the girls get up and take over the bathroom.
I made 2 banana and raisin loaf cakes to take with us and a couple of bunches of chrysanthemuns. Everything that is donated goes to the local Womens Aid and a lady from the church goes in and shows them how to make chutneys and jams from the fresh produce.
Anyway, I hear movement upstairs so I will love you and leave you.
Cheers m'dears x0 -
Hi everyone,
I'm new here do hope you don't mind me joining in. I was a member of the boards a very long time ago but decided to start fresh, partly due to forgetting my old login!
Having a very lazy Sunday so far, but will get DH up soon and then will be making Toffee Apple Crumble as a surprise for him. Hope to get washing done today as well, I think it will be the last really warm day of the year.
Will also be making a trip to Aldi today, they are getting in knitting yarn and craft books! :jWill need to be early though, they sell like hotcakes round here.
Take care all,
Izzy0 -
Dumpling - you rest up honey as I know what lack of sleep does to you xx
Tru - Cornwall is my most favourite place in the whole wide world and one day I hope to live down there. You could always buy your cottage by the harbour?
Hester - hope you are doing ok x
We had a busy day yesterday as had to go and see my parents. Lots to sort out as my Dad is not allowed to drive again and we have to organise a lasting power of attorney - difficult and stressful conversations.
Chicken dinner today and then taking DD back to uni. She is going to stay for longer but was very homesick so came home for cuddles with Molly and Poppy doggies. I have got her some bits and pieces to make her room more homely and found her old cuddly to take back for night -times:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.

I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.

Morning all
Overcast and drizzly here today.
Fish fed, I've had a cuppa and some prunes, hubby's still in bed, he's had a cuppa too.
Molly, Hilly, Beemuzed, big hugs, and to anyone else in need
Dumpling, I'm glad you feel better.
Tru, have a lovely hols.
Full roast dinner today, beef, yorkies, roasties, runner beans, cauli and broccoli, peas and gravy, I shan't be able to eat much but hubby will enjoy it I'm sure.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
The most frustrating thing is, if mr tru could get to work from here, we can afford it! But there's not a hope in hell of him earning the same down here. *sighs and wanders off to buy a lottery ticket*Bulletproof0
