so sorry to hear you have been feeling down Redouble
have you started a diary on the DFW Diaries board? they are very helpful when you complete a SOA and can offer advise on things you maybe able to cut back on, etc.
Have you looked at the Old Style Board and grocery challenge? About cooking more from basics and building a store cupboard. The money saved can then be thrown at your debt.
Have you spoken to Step Change? I have heard very good things about them and they are very helpful.
Hugs x
Thank you, I will look at these. I have not got the courage to do an SOA right now as I have a £500 or so deficit to find and I cannot bear seeing that in black and whiteNSDs 7/20

That's fair enough and understandable. Why don't you start a diary anyway, so we can come on there and give you moral support
are you on Facebook?
there's probably a few small things you could do immediately or start doing monthly that will help, at the moment, you can't see the trees for the woods.
I try to make sure (I pay by direct debit monthly) I update Scottish Power with my monthly usage. This means that they don't hit me with a massive bill every quarter as they have guesstimated my usage! that helps. So I tell them my meter readings every month and they can revise my bill each month.
Have you checked you are entitled to all the benefits you maybe able to claim? I know it is harder now as they have got stricter on the rules.
If you have mobile phones that on contract and you are not using them as much, and you have a high tariff, call your provider and explain situation to them and ask them to downgrade your tariff to something cheaper. Tell them would they prefer you to keep paying the bill or to be in arrears with money owing!
If you have a tv licence, see if you can spread the cost monthly, etc.
I have to go now school run, but will check in later. hopefully you will have started a diary0 -

Hi everyone,
Sorry for my long absence, been so utterly down with being so in debt, it is spiralling and we're at a point of reaching our very limits, so the head is out of the sand!
I have a few bits to sell and when I started sorting through them I remembered these threads! So here I am,
Can I please be put down for £10 a day please?
Made £5 today, and have applied for a job so here's to the start of getting out of this hole...
Hi Just wanted to say this was us a couple of years ago21 unopened bank statements in the drawer and no money to pay for food at my Mums funeral dark dark days
So I know how you are feeling. You have really got to take the bull by the horns and do a SOA just for you as you will not get far until you do.I know its so hard but as Aesop said there is ways you can save a bit here and there. But not if you don't know what you are dealing with.
So sit down and do it as soon as you can !!
We are all rooting for you and understand as I am sure we wouldn't be on mse if we didn't.It catches up with the best of us .So wishing you the best of luck and stick with us the only way is up from hereGood luck with the job hunting

Thank you all, I have a lot to do this evening (procrastinating right now as my husband has taken the car on a 30-40 minute round trip to buy a new suit jacket. We are not speaking. I now won't have enough diesel in the car to get the kids to school tomorrow and he will be spending the last bit of money on the credit card. I have no words right now.
Right off for my date with some steam and my oven.NSDs 7/20

I am not remotely an expert on getting yourself out of debt, just an expert at getting into it!I have no amazing words of wisdom, I just felt the need to send you a hug, to tell you that things will change (they always do), and to tell you that this is rock bottom - so you have a whole future to look forward to. Take heart, take comfort, and take care. We will be here to support you with every step. Xx
