Even if DSR did apply (which it doesn't) you would have had to cancel within 7 days under DSR which you didn't do?

i cancelled within one day of purchase - or at least tried to
  • Why the need for a 2nd thread despite your first being on the first page still?
    Keep to one per issue.
This actually makes the 4th thread on the same issue, despite being told it is against forum rules.

You seem to have missed the fact that DSRs doesn't apply.

    frugal

do you know if there is any protection for the consumer in the distance selling regs, if the consumer has not been told they have sucessfully purchased something?

ie if they havent been presented with a page confirming purchase and with a transaction number?

this is a thread about distance selling regulations. my other thread did not mention distance selling regulations
  • The distance selling regulations don't mention anything like your situation that I'm aware of. That doesn't mean you don't have any case at all, but you're going to have to prove it happened.

The full text of the DSRs is here:
As has been said, it is quite easy to understand, but an even easier interpretation is provided by the OFT:
On page 9 of that OFT document it says:
Contracts to which only part of the DSRs apply (Regulation 6)
2.20 The requirements to provide pre-contractual information, written and additional information, the right to cancel and the obligation on the supplier to carry out the contract within a maximum of 30 days do not apply to the following types of contract:
    • Contracts to provide accommodation, transport, catering or leisure services (for example hotel accommodation; plane, train, or concert tickets; car hire; or sporting events) where you agree to provide the service on a specific date or within a specific period.

    thanks mike

what annoys me most is i spent about £ 250 on tickets for 14 shows through the edfringe website over the course of 5 separate transactions. i always purchased 2 tickets.

on the occasion i had a problem i bought two tickets for a show and then another two tickets for the same show 5 minutes later

i think it would seem obvious to most that if i'd wanted 4 tickets for the same show i wouldn't have conducted two separate transactions, since each transaction had a booking fee
