TV Signal Strength?

Hi the signal quality for most of channels on our downstairs TV tends to be 52%, strength always 100% , also HD. Upstairs the TV tends to be always 100% for both strength & quality. We have just had a new Arial fitted & yesterday a few channels picture became a bit 'choppy' & picture breaking up, yet today all seems Ok? Picture quality excellent.
Before the New aerial we had this problem, but the aerial had become damaged & the TV's picture was breaking up more constantly.
Just wondering if 52% for the signal quality was acceptable?
Tonight the quality as ranged from 100% to 0, so picture breaking up & no signal at all at times on some channels.Very inconsistant.
Obviously making a call back on Monday
Thx

its not clear from your posts if you are using a passive or active aerial signal splitter which may or may not be the cause of your erratic reception problems.Hi the signal quality for most of channels on our downstairs TV tends to be 52%, strength always 100% , also HD. if you are using a active aerial signal splitter { most people call it a booster } this may or may not be faulty and it would be best if that was checked before calling the installer back as he may charge you if he did not supply them himself.
I know from my own freeview units that when there was a reception problem I tracked it back to a faulty booster as some outputs were fine but other outputs caused problems.0 -
I there's never been any mention of booster, unsure? I thought that if the signal is bad quality/poor then the booster will amplify the interference as well as the tv transmissions. The result will be disappointment and wasted money?Scotsman-5 wrote: »its not clear from your posts if you are using a passive or active aerial signal splitter which may or may not be the cause of your erratic reception problems.

Last night all seemed great with signal Q & S being 100% even for downstairs, then signal lost on BBC then quickly back then later some breaking up. But fine again today?
Thxjoe2cool0 -
All you have stated is there is at least two TV's so either you have two aerials or the more common single aerial that may be split or you are using a different configuration but only you can say what that is.I there's never been any mention of booster, unsure? To be able to pinpoint the likely culprit its important to know how the aerial signal is reaching all the TV's and or PVR's.
There may be a masthead amplifier which is close to the aerial but again its impossible for me to know if there is one.
If you take out all the variables there has to be some reason why you are having problems .
by the way a 100% signal quality and a 100% signal strength is highly unusual - most people may only see 100% signal quality and say between 50% and 90% signal strength - its when they dip unexpected that indicate there is a problem but it may be nothing to do with the new aerial.
I would expect the aerial installer will know the configuration so don't be surprised if he claims its nothing to do with the actual new aerial.0 -
Hi thx for all comments, the quality is 100% & strength 91/92joe2cool0
