Sony Xperia SP

My son would like one of these for his 21st birthday.

I had a look on Quidco and I see there's a cashback offer of £150 for a £21 per month sim only contract for 12 months for Standard Sims - if I click on Micro Sim, the monthly price rises.

I was planning to purchase an unlocked Sony Xperia SP phone and then just put this new sim into his phone.

However, when checking, I think I'm right in saying this phone uses a Micro Sim, which means his standard sim at the moment won't fit, is that right?

At the moment, he has an expired contract with T Mobile and only pays £6.00 per month for Unlimited Texts, Calls and Data, however, anytime I've contacted them to upgrade, they won't offer me a decent phone without raising my tariff.

He's also mentioned a Nokia 520 to have as a spare phone, (he's a student, and doesn't want to taken a really expensive phone out with him on a night out, in case it gets stolen or damaged)

So I was thinking that he could use his T Mobile sim in the Nokia, but again I think those phones take Micro Sims?

Can someone please suggest the best way for me to go about this, so I can get the best deal and spend the least amount of money! lol

Thanks

Sal

You could get the SP for £279 on pay and go - it should come with the micro sim card. Then transfer existing number over - check with the network first if they allow transfer to a new sim card - or just tell them sim card lost, you have a new mobile sim card - a micro sim card - and you want to register it with the old mobile number.

A normal 'mini' sim-card can be easily cut to a 'micro' size.

Providers like robbing their iPhone customers and can be reluctant to offer the same prices for micro sim contracts even after a micro sim stopped being an unique feature of the latest iPhone.
