Does anyone know if Sky is "up to something" with this deal. We have received the offer by email and have been with Sky for over 4 years - just Skybroadband, Skytalk and the TV but no package and BT line rental.
Message from Sky
"We'd like to thank you for being a Sky Broadband customer by offering you £2.50 off your Sky Broadband Unlimited every month for a whole year, when you sign up for another 12 months. So you'll only pay £7.50 instead of £10 a month and your Sky Line Rental will stay the same." - we don't pay line rental to them, its BT.
I don't understand "sign up for another 12 months". We have never had to renew every 12 months - contract has always just carried on.
Thinking of taking this up but wonder what will happen after the year.

I'd guess that way back when you originally signed up with Sky, you had a 12 month contract, which is now on a monthly rolling basis, so you can currently cancel with 30 days notice. If you take the current deal, you'll be tied to Sky for 12 months, with a cancellation fee if you leave before then.
It's not the cheapest deal around, but if you're happy with Sky and ok with a 12 month contract then there's no harm in taking it.
I'd say that the bit about the line rental is because it's just a generic letter/email etc to all broadband customers?0 -
BT's had offers like this for years eg. free evening and weekend calls, if you agree to stay for 12 months.0
