Self adhesive hooks

I have purchased some self adhesive hooks, similar to these.

I have stuck one on the wall and am going to leave it for 24 hours before using it.
I only read reviews afterwards which seem to suggest they will fall down. I googled and one tip is to apply clear nail varnish to the adhesive, let it dry and then stick to the wall.

Has anyone tried this or know some other way of keeping the hooks stuck to the wall?

Some of the cheaper self-adhesive hooks can only hold light items such as a dishcloth etc.
If you want self-adhesive hooks which can handle a considerable weight, have a look at the 3M Command range:

They are available from the DIY stores and some supermarkets. If my post hasn't helped you, then don't click the 'Thanks' button!0 -
I recommend the 3m range, someone on here mentioned them for holding a heavy notice board onto a fridge and we haven't looked back!
They're now holding things in various cupboards of varying weights. They are expensive but I know my bits and bobs won't come crashing down.If you aim for the moon if you miss at least you will land among the stars!0 -
Yes they are expensive, thats why I was reluctant to buy them.0

I use a dab of superglue from the pound shop on each of these supposed self adheive hooks after many fell down. Fantastic!0

The self stick hooks will damage the wall also, but only when you yank them off. ( they leave the sticky pad behind!)
I look on these sticky hooks + a bit of superglue as hooks without screws!0 -
Do you need the Isopropyl alcohol, I can't find it on the B&Q website. Is there an alternative I could use?
I have an Eco Spirit brush and general purpose cleaner I used to clean the wall before sticking the self adhesive hook yesterday. I also have sugar soap.0 -
You can buy IPA and label remover which should also work, from Maplin:
