I think you should contact Continental direct and ask for a full examination of your tyres. I haven't experienced this new phenomena, the cars I drive personally I don't keep for long, and even the longer term ones seem to be heavier than average on their boots and get replaced before age can get to them.
However, fishing around online there does appear to be a belief that tyres being used (as opposed to being new and in good storage), age at 5 (showing the symptoms you have) and should really be replaced at 6. Unless your parking your car on a salty seafront where it has unusually high UV exposure for the UK, your tyres appear to have a problem.0 -
I agree with Colino. You should definitely contact Continental.
IMHO this is what a 5-7 year old tyre would look like. Or a summer tyre after a heavy winter or 2."Retail is for suckers"

I have to take the car back to the dealers first - I have emailed the car manufacturers too - to check whether there is a recall! !
Continenal are not responsible to replace the tyres - my contract is not with tbem. ..
And no I live 30 miles from the sea !!0 -
Well, Continental provide the warranty anyway, so not sure why the garage told you it's not under warranty in the first place."Retail is for suckers"

Now seeing the picture my problem isn't exactly the same....the Dunlops have small hairline cracks on the walls up by the shoulder leading to the tread.
I have also used tyre glossing stuff in the past too....I think I would be concerned if the cracks were as photos.0
