Tyres "perishing"

You should be checking tyre pressures yourself much more regularly. Checking tyre pressures at an annual service is not enough and you would not know if the pressure had dropped during the year.
Should you be driving?
I do check my tyres regularly - that is how I know the pressure and how I noticed the cracking !!
Should you be breathing ?0 -
Small cracks do happen as rubber ages. If they're not down to the cord of the tyre, I'd dismiss them as normal and keep using the tyres. They're not excessivly old. UV light from sunlight for example can damage rubber, but they are designed to cope with it.
I suspect you're talking about really small cracks, not large cracks or blocks of tread falling off.0 -

The OP never said they don't check the tyre pressures, they said they have never put air in them.Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0 -
Thanks - no not chunks of rubber - more tiny little cracks - running the whole width and all the way round, of all tyres - just slightly concerned because I have never noticed them before - it looks as if the rubber is perishing !!
These tyres are 3 years old - and have only been used for less than 12,000 miles in the last 2 years..
I have googled CONTINENTAL TYRE PROBLEMS and have come up with many similar problems - so it does look like there is a real issue !!!0 -

He also stated:my car is serviced annually and they check the tyres at this time
Naive or what! :rotfl::doh: Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
If it was me op . I'd take my car to a few local good tyre garages and let them inspect the tyres , and here what they got to say about them . Not sure you go to high street chains for this . One comes to particular mind ?0

I asked Honest John for advice
Response :
This seems to have been happening to Far Eastern manufactured Dunlops as well. In UK law the dealer you bought the car from is liable, but since he's gone to the wall, then better take it up with your car manufacturers via the other dealer. There never was any contract between you and Continental because you did not buy the tyres from them.0
